To be perfect,
Smooth to touch,
Happy to see,
Practically perfect until my eyes meet you,
Reflection wrap into something flawed and bruised,
Pick, pick, pick.
Scratch, Scratch, Scratch,
Make me perfect.
Shape me, change me,
Make look like that,
Get rid of this,
Please I beg you,
Just take my face away.
Make me perfect, Doc.
Body dysmorphia can stem from a perfectionist personality trait, you can worry about the feeling of your skin and not just the appearance, picking at skin and constant grooming is a few of the main symptoms addressed in these poems, as well as the possibility of seeking surgery.
I stare,
I know it is rude,
But the more I look the more I see,
The more I see the more I see,
Face rest,
Cheeks smile,
No difference for me as my features fall,
with my tear, they disappear as soon as I leave you.
I am ugly,
I am fat,
I am everything they say,
I am everything you show,
I am not who I see.
People with Body Dysmorphia spend long periods of time looking in the mirror, often ruminating, grooming, skin picking or applying makeup in order to camouflage.
