Chapter 5 : Maiden Voyage

(Y/N) POV

I've been at the Ironblood HQ for a few days now since I've been positioned here until I'm needed back at Sakura Empire HQ. I haven't had any battles yet but I think that it's because I.B Commander is scared that I'll be heavily damaged or something and that something will happen with the relations between Ironblood and the Sakura Empire. I understand her worries, but I kinda want to go out there and wreck havoc. I'm on my way I.B Commander's office to ask about any sorties or any missions I can fulfil.

Z23 : Hey (Y/N), wait up.

There wasn't anyone else around  so it would be ok for me to talk aloud.

Me : Hey Nimi, what's up.

Z23 : Not much really. I was just out on a morning walk. But what are you doing up at this time, when you were younger you didn't wake up until 7:45. But now your up and early at 5:55.

Me : Well to answer your questions. 1, I'm on my way to the Kommandant to ask about any missions I can do since I feel like I haven't really been pulling my own weight around here. And 2, I went to sleep and woke up at 5:15 and couldn't fall asleep again.

Z23 : Alright then. Maybe the Kommandant will let me go out on your first mission as well.

Me : Maybe, I'll ask her if it's ok and if it is I'll let you know.

I walk up to the door of the Kommandant's office and wait for a reply. I get that in the form of her telling me to come in. I walk in and take a seat in front of the Kommandant and wait for her to finish her paperwork. I take a look at the bin next to her desk and see It's chock full of empty coffee cups. Was she up all night doing these papers, the bags under her eyes would also indicate so.

I.B Commander : Ah (Y/N), what can I do for you this morning.

Me : Before I get onto that, are you alright? You have bags under your eyes and your bin is full to the brim with coffee cups. Were you up all night?

I.B Commander : Yeah I was, but these papers need to be done by 8:00 AM today so I kind of had to.

Me : Alright then, just don't over do it.

I.B Commander : Alright then, what was it you came here to ask? I presume you didn't come here just to tell me to watch myself, am I correct?

Me : Yes you are, I was wondering why I wasn't doing any missions or anything like that. I would like to do something to help around here.

I.B Commander : I had a feeling you'd bring this up eventually. The reason I hadn't have you done anything apart from helping around the base is because I didn't want your existence to be known by the Azur Lane yet. I thought it would be best if you had your debut under the command of the Sakura fleet.

Me : I see where you were coming from but the reason I'm here is for you to command me in battle, or to send me off to get supplies and such. Of course I wouldn't minded if we were going to be attacked by the Azur Lane and I was to defend the base, but they aren't. As far as I'm aware of. So I'm going to ask you, is there anything I can do, such as going out and intercepting any Royal Navy or Eagle Union convoys or maybe a bombing raid.

I.B Commander : I see, I guess it would be best if we did some reconnaissance. Ok then. Kaiju, your first mission is to gather information about anything you can find.

Me : May I ask if Z23 tag along for this mission, I would like to have my first mission in her company.

I.B Commander : I don't see why that would be a problem, she does know your male so she is the best to do this mission with you after all. So you and Z23 will do some reconnaissance.
