Staring at the box in disbelief, hesitation influenced my senses when I find my hands shaking, receiving the box from Moonbin's grasp."A pregnancy test?"

Mina's POV
"Do you really think that I am-"
I couldn't bring myself to say that word since it scares me to certain degree. The responsibilities, the consequences aren't something to joke around.
I don't think no one would question why I fear the assumption might be true since I just finished high school.
"I can't tell, Mina-ah. That's the main idea of giving you the test kit."
Moonbin chuckles to my question which I grin following afterwards. Can't believe I actually asked Moonbin as if he can diagnose me this instant.
"Don't worry, it will be our little secret. I wanted you to make sure of the pregnancy thing so we can ensure your safety and health while we find Eunwoo."
He assures me in a calming tone which lessen my worries for a moment.
"What if it is positive?" I shoot the jackpot question, earning a long sigh from Moonbin.
"Then, Eunwoo has a reason to come home."
____________
I stare nervously at the small display area on the test kit, waiting ten minutes just like the side of the box instructed.
Sweats dripping off my face, signaling the aroused nerves I am fighting with in this very moment. So many outcomes ready in line that scares me to a nauseating degree.
"Hey, you're done yet?" Moonbin's whispering voice pierces through the toilet door, loud enough for me to hear.
"Yeah, I'm waiting for the result." I whisper carefully, not wishing the others would figure out our crazy experiment. If they find out, there will be nothing but another problem stacked on our ledger.
After the awaited moment, I walk out with the pen-shaped test kit, wrapped in my sweaty fingers.
The single line on the pregnancy test manages to make both of us sigh in relief. I smile awkwardly to Moonbin, earning the same smile from him. Now that the kit is negative, we feel like our lungs can only properly breathe as if we were breathing underwater.
"Well, that flabbergasted the hell out of me." Moonbin's small chuckle rings through the room.
"Well, looks like Eunwoo doesn't have a reason to come home to me."
My statement erases off the grin we had on our faces just seconds before. My heart becomes heavy and my chest tightens when I think of the outcome if only the test kit shows two lines instead.
Would he really come home to me if he knows I carry his child?
Moonbin places his arms on my shoulder, his warm hands replace the cold I felt.
"He has to, because you are the only thing that made this home, a home."
His reassuring words brush off the guilt and regret from my head. I was beginning to feel like everything was meant to fall into pieces this way. Maybe Moonbin's presence in my life is to fulfill the spot of a friend I could trust and lean on instead of ruining the best part of my life.
