It was raining outside, so Blaine and I decided to watch a movie. Our parents were once again visiting our brother. I'm pretty sure the only reason they didn't kick him out when he turned eighteen was so he could take care of me. They only had two and a half years for me to be old enough to kick both of us out
My phone dinged with a text from Sam, hey!! I am super bored so can I come over? As I started to type my response, another message appeared oooo is your brother there?!?! I laughed at the message before poking Blaine with my foot to get his attention, "Hey, Sam wants to come over, do you wanna see if Jake, Marls, and her cousin can come over too? Or were you just wanting to have some chill time?"
"Sam?" he asked, smiling and his face turning slightly red.
"mmhmm" I laughed "and Jake and Marley, Sophia?"
"Yep that works, do you have any fancy plans or are we just gonna wing it?" he asked.
I thought for a moment "I don't think so? We can just hang and see what we come up with?"
"That sounds like a perfect plan baby sister," he said, getting up to hug me.
We texted our friends to come over, Jake very quickly agreed and told us that he was on the way. Marley texted and said that she and Sophia would leave their house in fifteen minutes.
Sam showed up first and hugged Blaine then me and then Blaine again, this time longer. It was a different hug than he and I shared. I could tell that something was there. It could have been because I wanted Blaine to be happy, so the second I saw a smile I thought he was in love. I wanted him to be in love. In a love where he would be loved back.
Jake came about twenty minutes later and rang the doorbell, "your boyfriend is here" Sam sang.
"And your boyfriend is there," I said, pointing at Blaine as I walked to the front door. "Hi, I simply have no plans but it's rainy and we are bored," I told Jake, giving him a quick hug.
He hugged me back, rubbing my back "no plans are needed, just spending time with you.... with you all is enough. Is anyone else coming?"
With you? Did he mean with me or did he just stumble over his words? I was thinking way too far into this. We were friends. We were friends, and that's all that mattered. He broke up with Kitty less than a month ago, he wasn't going to jump into another relationship right away. I still got to keep his smile in my life and that was perfect for me.
"Marls and Sophie are coming, they should be here soon," I told him.
He laughed, "So we are playing truth or dare? If Sophie is coming you know she will want to play."
He was right, it was her favorite game. I didn't know why, we all knew so much about each other and were comfortable doing almost anything. We had lines with the truths, you couldn't any questions about home life because that was a touchy subject for all of us in one way or another. Pretty much anything else was on the table.
When Sophia and Marley got to our house, Blaine decided to order Breadstix for us. We played a few rounds of truth or dare. Blaine ended up eating a spoonful of hot sauce and kissing Sophia. Marley told us that she had a crush on Daniel. I explained to her that he probably wasn't the best guy to date, but she should follow her heart.
After Sophia got dared to not dye her hair for a month, it was her turn to pick someone. "Jake," she said, "truth or dare?"
Shit.
"Ummm dare," he said with a smile.
Sophia giggled so loud that the neighbors probably heard her. "I dare you to kiss Emily," she said proudly.
"No." Blaine said, "Her first kiss is not going to be on a dare."
"I have kissed people before? You know this? Are you losing your mind Bugga?" I said. I was confused, when I had my first kiss I told Blaine right after it happened. I told him everything, my first kiss was not a detail of my life that I was going to leave out.
"Go with it Nugget, trust me," he said through his teeth. He smiled and went back to his normal voice "New dare. Good Plan Blaine."
Sophia thought for a moment then laughed again, "Fine. Jake, I dare you to kiss Blaine"
"Haha very funny, he is straight, and simply don't need to make him uncomfortable," Blaine said, scooting away from Jake.
By fate or luck or whatever you want to call it, Blaine's phone rang saying it was time to go pick up our order. He stood up and right before he left he looked at Jake and said, "don't do it till I get back. I want to see her happy face."
Don't do what? What was Jake going to do that would give me a happy face? I mean, other than just being there with his happy face and talking.
"I won't," he said with a smile.
When Blaine got back with the food Sam started drumming on his lap. "Do it, Jake! I have no idea what you are doing but it seems like it's a big deal, so do it!"
Jake put his hands in the pockets of his lettermen jacket and took a deep breath, "Ems, truth or dare?"
"Truth?"
He smiled and took another deep breath, "What are your truthful thoughts about going on a date with me on Friday after school?"
I gasped and my eyes filled with tears. "Yes please," I said, a tear falling down my face.
"Shhh oh, don't cry," he said wiping my tear with his thumb. "Don't cry we are going to have a great time and you are going to tell me if anything is uncomfortable. It's going to be perfect."
Perfect. Perfect and with Jake, I liked the sound of that. I knew that even if the date didn't meet normal standers of what perfect was supposed to be, it would still be perfect to me. It would be perfect because I was going to be on a date with Jake Puckerman. I couldn't wait.
I smiled and hugged everyone in the room. I had to do something with all my happy energy, and hugs were the best plan I had. I saved Jake for last, hugging him longer and tighter than the others.
It was already perfect.
