I Do

Today was the day of Mr. Schuester and Emma's wedding. All the old glee club members were coming back to help them celebrate their big day. I was super excited to see Santana and Quinn. Marley and I went dress shopping together and helped our guys pick out their suits.

I was wearing a spaghetti strap black lacy dress with pink flowers, it was longer in the back, but it was comfortable enough for the little bit of dancing I would be doing, and to fit in my wheelchair.

Jake called me the morning of the wedding, "Good morning beautiful, are you excited to get all fancy and dance?"

I laid there for a minute, I was still super tired and would reality only get to dance for a few songs before Blaine and Jake made me get in my chair. "Yep, super excited. Did you get your pink tie that matches my dress?

"Shit," he said, and I could hear him flop back on his bed.

"Jake! That is important! Maybe Blaine has one that you can use," I said, trying to keep the stress out of my voice.

It's not a huge deal. We can definitely figure it out, it's just not the plan. No one is even going to know that anything went 'wrong', he's not in the wedding party so nothing is going to stand out. If we can't find him a pink tie, he has a black one and a white one that he can wear so he is still in the dress code. It's not going to mess anything up if the color of his tie changes. He is still him, and you are still going to have a good time with him. Breathe.

"I'm sorry, I just forgot. I will figure it out though, and Blaine has like ten thousand bowties, so I can just steal one of his for the night. It's going to be okay Ems. Breathe," he told me.

I nodded my head, even though he couldn't see it, "Okay," I said, taking a deep breath. "I know, we've got this."

We talked for a little while and hung up so we could get ready. We had packed the car with the wheelchair the night before, and our bags were packed, with a list reminding us to grab my medication and our lil friends because they were last-minute packing items.

A few minutes after I got dressed I heard a knock on my door, "Hey Nugget, I'm here to help you with your hair"

"Come in," I yelled.

Blaine helped with my hair because it hurt too bad to have my arms up that long. I wasn't doing anything fancy, just straightening it and putting a little bit of it up. I was going to put my little butterfly clip in my hair. It's Valentine's day so I have to do something that has to do with Jake and me.

Once my hair was done, Blaine hugged me, letting his head stay on mine without messing up my hair. We just sat there for a while, hugs were both of our favorite things because our love language is touch. Due to the trauma that we both had, touch was also scary. We were each other's safe person, so we could hug each other and just feel safe.

I reached behind me to hug him, "my boyfriend is an idiot and forgot a tie so he needs to steal one at some point," I told him, dropping my hands and putting them on his arm. I didn't want him to let go, I just couldn't keep my back bent like that for too long.

"I'll get him a bowtie, baby sister," he laughed. "I think that Marley and Ry will be here in like a half-hour, Sam and Jake should be here any minute. We should be ready to hit the road in an hour."

He was trying to give me a plan. A new place, with new people, was scary. I knew it would be loud, and the food was a surprise, so I had no idea what was going on. So, he was trying to give me some plans to keep my brain slow.

"So," he added because I was still visibly overwhelmed. "Jake is going to get his tie, then you, Jake, Sam, and I are going to hang out until our friends get here. We will put everyone's overnight bags in the trunk, and your little snack and meds bag in the front. I will be driving, and Sam will sit in the front next to me unless you want to be there. You are sitting in the very back with Jake, so you can lean on him, and Marley and Ryder will be in the middle. We will get to the wedding and have fun. If we need to grab your food from a safe place, we will. When it's time to go to bed you can be with Jake or me. This is all going to be okay. If you need to take a minute to breathe someone can step out with you."

I fixed my face, I know I don't need to be overwhelmed, but I was. We sat and waited for Sam and Jake to get to our house. They were coming before our friends, so we could have a little bit of time with them considering it was Valentine's day.

When Jake got to the house, I jumped on him and wrapped my legs around him, hiding my face in his neck, "I missed you too," he laughed, kissing the top of my head.

I didn't let go until it was time to leave, I knew that there were going to be a lot of new people, but if I just stayed with Blaine and Jake, I would be okay.

We got to the wedding and sat there. A few minutes went by, and we were still sitting there. When the music played for Emma to come, it was Sue. She told us that Emma had gone 'somewhere' but that we should still have the party anyway because it was paid for. Everyone looked around and slowly started to leave for the party.

"It's because of your tie," I laughed, kissing the side of Jake's head. I grabbed his hand and walked with him to the reception.

Everyone sang and danced, I was put in my wheelchair after the first upbeat song. I talked them into letting me stay up for the slow dances because Jake would support me.

When it was almost time to leave, Sam came up to me, "Hey Ems, you're in a good headspace right? Like you don't need Blaine now... or tonight? Right? Yeah you're good. You got Jake. Yep. So, Blaine will be slightly busy tonight, annnnd that is all," he said smiling and walking away.

Okay, I didn't need to hear all that, but at least he cares, and that is super sweet. Jake just looked up at me and laughed, "You look like a tomato baby," he laughed kissing my cheek. "A cute tomato though." He thought for a minute and pulled me into a hug, "do you want to go be 'slightly busy tonight?' all of our friends are in their rooms sleeping or...yeah. It's very up to you, but I'm down."

"Yes, definitely. Big fan," I said, brushing my hand on his thigh. "Oop," I laughed. "look who's the tomato now."
