Bakugo left the office a changed boy, well as changed as you could be in only a few hours. Nezu had gone through every mistake he'd made in the year so far, from the training battle, to his most recent one at the sports festival.

He hadn't realised how much he was letting his anger control him.

He walked back towards his house, the sky already getting dark. It had been a long talk....

Bakugo walked past the Midoriya household and stopped. He knew that he wouldn't be welcome, Aunty Inko probably wouldn't even let him call her that anymore, but he needed to apologise, to make sure he actually hadn't discouraged the quirkless boy for good.

He took a breath and marched over to the door. He waited, getting more anxious by the second, and almost turned back around and walked away.

At the last second, the door opened, revealing Inko. When she recognised who was at the door, she appeared to look down on the blonde, even though he was much taller. If there was one lesson Bakugo should have learned from his Aunty it was that appearance wasn't everything. He'd had enough reprimanding glares whenever he used swears around here, up until only a few years ago, when Bakugo was already much taller than the small woman.

He instantly got 10x more nervous. "W-well I was hoping to see De-Izuku, to apologise for what I did today. I don't know if you saw..."

"I saw."

Now, on a normal day Bakugo would have taken that as a sign that if he stayed any longer, he would not like the consequences, but he wasn't here for himself, so he stayed.

"Could I see him?" Bakugo asked, tentatively. "You may." Inko replied. "But if you do anything wrong, you are gone mister." Bakugo wouldn't admit it, but he was truly terrified.

As he walked past her, she said "He's in his room, resting after you broke 2 of his limbs." Bakugo winced at that. He really hadn't meant to- well he'd meant to by he didn't think- never mind. If his excuses didn't even work for him, there is no way anyone else would take them seriously. He just needed to try and start to make things right.

He opened Izuku's bedroom door, seeing said boy sat on his bed. He was staring straight ahead, practically dead eyed.

Bakugo really had broken him, in both body and spirit. He needed to be straightforward.

"I was wrong."

Izuku turned his blank gaze towards Bakugo, not really comprehending his words. 'He was admitting... he was wrong?' The utter absurdity was enough to shake Izuku from his haze slightly.

"What?.." Izuku croaked out. "I said I was wrong.."

Izuku was fully alert now. "Aizawa... he showed me how wrong my actions were. Even still, I've got a weeks suspension. I just came to say... you can be a hero." Izuku was almost certain he was dead now. There was no Bakugo, the Katsuki Bakugo, would say that to him, especially not to his face.

He just stared dumbfounded as Bakugo continued on. "You put in the effort, you even beat icy-hot, so obviously you have the drive. I just wish I'd seen it sooner..." That was enough to break Izuku, and he let out a wail, clutching Bakugo with his good arm as the other boy let him.

Inko backed away from her son's door. Bakugo had saved himself tonight, but if he ever slipped up again, Inko would make sure he never got the chance to hurt her baby again, old friendships be damned. She would protect her child.

After a short break to rest from the sports festival, the students all returned to lessons. Both Shinso and Izuku were still in Gen Ed, but they had been informed that after the hero course took their internships, they would be joining.

The mood in class 1A was solemn. Iida's brother had been severely injured by a villain known as Stain, and may never work again. No one knew how to really comfort the bespectacled boy, especially when he kept insisting that nothing was wrong.

No one was confused by the missing Bakugo, they all understood that what he did was so wrong, expulsion would have definitely been appropriate, however Aizawa explained that they were giving him one more chance, and a week's suspension, meaning he'd miss the first few days of internships, although he would still be able to choose a place from his options, which were much less than Todoroki or even Tokoyami's choices.

Shinso was expecting the same sullen Izuku who had left the infirmary after the sports festival to walk through the classroom door. Instead, an Izuku who, although not back to normal, was much closer to his normal actions was the one who appeared in the doorway. Shinso was pleasantly surprised and didn't feel like pushing for an answer for this improved mood. He'd take whatever he could get.

It seemed for now, they could move on from the past.

What they didn't know was that one of their classmates was very much still stuck in the last, and it would lead to him making a very terrible mistake.

Izuku could see it in Iida's eyes, and he wished he knew him better. The best he could do was give him some advice.

Izuku approached Iida on the lunch before the Interships. "Don't seek revenge." Iida turned to him, startled. "Excuse me?" "I said, don't go after Stain. You can't win, and your death will do nothing for your brothers health. Still go to Hosu, heck, still look for Stain with whatever pro hero you choose, but don't run in alone. I don't want to see you die."

Iida just stood shocked as Izuku walked away. Was he that obvious? Whatever the case, he would definitely take Izuku's words into account, but would it be enough?

A/N a little shorter, setting up the next section. I hope you enjoyed!
