After those who were injured, including Izuku, were healed by recovery girl, Mirio made his closing speech.

"I'll be honest, I'm not to sure how helpful that was, but at least we had fun, right?" Most of the class have a cheer, and Izuku had a bright smile on his face.

Bakugo, who was just in front of him, was silently fuming, obviously not satisfied with the fight.

'At least it's over.' Aizawa thought.

Izuku had only one option In his mind for where he wanted to go for his work studies.

Sir Nighteye.

Luckily, Mirio just so happened to be working with him, and apparently he'd impressed the boy enough for him to happily help him get a meeting with the man, although he said Izuku would have to seal the deal himself.

He was just glad the first part was done for him, but not enough to give up questioning the older student about what happened during their fight, with the lightning.

The only theory Izuku had was that it was some kind of boost or evolution to the boys quirk, but if he could just turn it on and off that seemed unlikely. Most quirk mutations were permanent, and most of the time damaging, one that seemed to boost the speed and power of the user with no clear connection to the original quirk was very strange.

Izuku was curious to say the least.

"So, what was that yellow lightning about?" Mirio's head shot up from his phone, which he had been using to message Sir Nighteye that they were on the train to his agency.

He replied, voice betraying his nervousness.

"W-what lightning?"

If Izuku could criticise his upperclassmen in one way, it would be that he was a terrible liar.

He sent the boy a glare, practically saying 'seriously' with his eyes.

The boy practically wilted before recollecting himself. "I'm not really allowed to tell people..."

"Why?" Izuku asked, now even more curious.

"If it got out, it could be dangerous." He sent a look towards Izuku, showing he was serious, although the green haired boy barely noticed, already using this new information to build up his theories.

"Fair enough, you've already given me a lot, probably more than you thought you had." At first, Mirio's face morphed into one of relief, before he seemed to properly think through the boy's words, face blanching.

He was about to speak up when Izuku interrupted. "Look, we've arrived at our stop. Come in Mirio, don't want to keep the ex-sidekick of the number one hero waiting!" Izuku promptly walked off the train, leaving the older boy slightly shocked in his seat, before the doors started to close and forced him to run after Izuku.

And if he was forced to permeate through the closed train doors, that was between him and some fortunately malfunctioning camera equipment.

Oddly enough, his meeting with Sir Nighteye went much better than expected. From how Mirio acted he assumed it would take all his persuasion, but the man appeared to already have a good opinion of him, and after telling his favourite joke about Endeavor, his contract was stamped, signing him on to the agency's team.

He would have his first day next week, with the weekend to prepare.

Although before he left, Izuku had a question for his new employer.

"Do you know about Mirio's secret quirk? One that is dangerous to know about?" The man simply pushed his glasses up. "That secret is not for me to reveal. If Mirio sees it as necessary, he will do so himself."

Seeing that he wouldn't get any information from the man, Izuku left with a curt nod.

For the first time since Midoriya had entered his agency, Nighteye let a smile appear on his face.

"I like that kid. I like that kid a lot."
———————————————————————————
The whole train ride home Mirio kept looking at Izuku, as if trying to gauge how much the boy had figured out.

Personally, Izuku thought it very funny that the boy was so anxious about it. After Sir Nighteye had refused to reveal anything, Izuku thought it likely that whatever was going on with this mysterious new quirk, it wasn't an issue, at least not right now.

That didn't mean he couldn't have fun with his upperclassmen, maybe even do a bit of extra digging.

Just because he didn't think it necessary to find out what exactly was going on didn't mean he wouldn't want to know about it still. What could he say, he was a curious guy.

Eventually, they arrived back at the 1-A dorms, Togata dropping him off, then sending him one last nervous glare before scurrying back to his own dorms, probably to fret with Tamaki and Hado.

Izuku felt a bright smile on his face as he walked into the building. The day had gone better than expected, especially concerning his work study.

Currently, the only one down in the common room was Bakugo, who looked up from his phone upon Izuku's entry.

"How'd it go nerd?" Although it was the same insult, it held none of its previous malice, feeling much more like a nickname between friends. That only made his smile grow.

"Pretty good, better than expected." He made a move to head up to his room, but decided to tell Bakugo one more thing.

"By the way, if you want to get back at Mirio, make sure to ask him what was up with the yellow lightning." Izuku watched as Bakugo's faced morphed into an almost evil smirk, before heading up to his room, his work now done.

He trudged up the stairs to his room, which was on the second floor.

He opened his door to the familiar posters of All Might, as well as analysis notes and basic support item designs.

However, there also appeared to be a new addition.

Shinso looked up as Izuku walked in, before standing up and taking a step towards the boy.

"Can we talk?"
