Chapter 5

PRESENT

TW: S*mon

Niall continues comforting Harry and Harry eventually stops crying.

"I should get back to Lou, I've been gone a while," Harry says leaving Niall's grip.

"I'll go with you mate; I think it's time I see him."

Niall puts his arm around Harry, and they walk to the hospital room. They stop at room 208 and Harry looks at Niall.

"This is it; this is where Louis is," Harry says softly

Niall removes his arms from Harry's back. Harry opens the door and goes in, Niall follows behind. Liam is sitting on the chair looking at Louis, he lifts his head up and looks at Harry. Liam gets out of the chair and moves out of the way. Harry walks to the chair and sits down not making a sound. He grabs Louis's hand and gently kisses it, he stays quiet. Liam looks over at the door and realizes Niall is just standing there.

"Nialler you can come in, I see Harry found you," Liam tells Niall.

"More like I found Harry, I had no idea where I was going and then all of sudden Harry bumped into me. That's what happens when you run down a hospital hallway."

"Harry, you ran, what made you run?" Liam asks.

"I just needed to get back to Louis," Harry answers.

"Okay."

Niall stays standing at the door and Liam looks at him.

"Nialler are you just gonna stand there?"

"No, I just forgot to come in."

"Well come in then will ya?"

Niall comes into the hospital room and grabs another chair. He lays the chair next to Harry.

"Hey, Payno would you like a chair? Niall asks.

"No thank you I'm fine standing."

"Okay," Niall says sitting down in the chair.

Harry stays silent holding Louis's hand. Liam and Niall watch Harry worried. The room stays quiet, Harry has his lips on Louis's hand, Niall is staring at the roof, and Liam is looking at Louis's lifeless body.

"You know, they really should decorate this place. It's extremely depressing, like who thought beige walls was a good idea?" Niall asks

"It fits with the mood," Harry adds lifting up his head and looking at Niall.

Harry puts his head back down to Louis's hand. Niall goes back to staring at the ceiling, playing with his fingers. The room is back to silence, no one is speaking. They all stay frozen and quiet. Niall looks at Louis for the first time, he is terrified by what he sees. That was not his mate Louis that was a living corpse. Niall begins to panic; tears are starting to pour down his face as he tries to keep them in. He has to be strong; he has to be strong for Harry. Niall never did well with hospitals or death for that matter. He hates going to hospitals, hospitals to him are a giant deathward. Any time Niall has to go to a hospital his body clenches with fear. When Niall is in a car driving past a crash scene he has to look away because the thought of seeing a corpse terrifies him. He tried watching The Walking Dead once, but he couldn't get through the first episode because there were too many corpses. Niall sits internally panicking, he begins chewing on his nails. Niall is starting to have a full-blown anxiety attack. He looks back at the ceiling which does nothing, so he stands up panting.

"Someone say something! Anything!" Niall yells as tears are running down his face, he is trembling with fear.

Harry's head shoots up looking at Niall who is paler than a ghost. Liam looks at Niall worried he's gonna pass out.
