Chapter 6

PAST

One Direction is performing at G-A-Y, a nightclub in London. Before they perform there is a cake brought out for Niall's 18th birthday. A food fight starts, cake is flung everywhere, the boys have cake all over them as they sing What Makes You Beautiful. Louis is enjoying his time performing on stage at the gay bar. He feels alive, he wishes every performance could be like this. Everyone watching can tell he's having the time of his life. Simon is not happy this makes Louis look gay, Louis can't be gay it will ruin his image. Their performance ends and Louis finds Harry, he kisses him backstage.

"You look cute with cake all over your face," Louis says smiling at Harry.

"Not as cute as you Lou."

Louis grabs Harry's hand and walks to the rest of the boys.

"Tonight, was fire mates, I hope to have more nights like this," Louis says.

They all begin to leave; Harry and Louis stay holding hands and get in the car. When they arrive at the hotel Louis and Harry go to a room together. They both strip off their messy cake-filled clothes and get in bed. They spend the night together just like they do every night. Louis wakes up to a message from Simon.

"Louis, I'm flying you out to my house. Me and you need to have a little talk, Simon," the message reads.

Louis gets up and begins getting dressed, Harry rolls over and looks at him.

"Where you going, Lou?"

"Simon needs to talk to me, he's flying me out to his house so it must be urgent."

Louis finishes getting dressed and Harry rolls over falling asleep. Louis leaves the hotel room nervous about what Simon has to say. The whole plane ride Louis is nervous, why did Simon so desperately want to speak with him? He arrives at Simon's house, Simon has him come into his office and Louis sits down across from him.

"Louis I need to talk to you about the performance last night, you made it too obvious you are gay. The whole world is gonna know you're gay, you will ruin the band's image. I have created a new contract for you to sign, you will no longer be able to dress like that, you need to dress like a man, you can't be seen with Harry, you have to act like you don't love him, the world has to see you as straight. If you chose to not sign it, you will regret messing with me, and I will take it out on Harry. Do you understand?

Louis nods with tears in his eyes, Simon hands him a pen and he signs the stupid contract. He doesn't want to have to hide from the world, but he has to, to protect Harry. If he has to change so Harry doesn't, it's worth it. After that meeting, Louis became distant from Harry, he changed. Louis was never the same after that meeting, he was the broken piece of that pure boy that got crushed by society's standards.
