Alaskas eyes were wide, yet she looked better then earlier. She was off in a different place, focusing on something so intensely, that I would imagine the world around her would dissipate.
Carolina, still clinging to York, looked up at me with a stare that drilled a hole through my skull. Her eyes were glass marbles, floating in a sea of tears. She had a bittersweet look about her that I knew she had a strong connection with Alaska.
Suddenly Carolina bent down and scooped Alaska up and started sobbing manically. Alaska, who was probably being completely crushed, remained distant.
"Let's, give them some time" North suggested. First out the door was North. And then York. I felt something tugging at me. I didn't realize I was looking at Alaska, until her gaze fell apon me. Shivers rippled down my spine and my hands became sweaty.
Immediately diverted my attention. My face felt hot. This feeling, it made me sick, but I wanted more of it. Quickly I walked out the door without a word.
"Hey Washington. Quite a sappy reunion don't you think? I've never seen Carolina so...emotional" York commented.
"Reunion?" I asked.
"Yeah kid." North rubbed my head, ruffling my hair. I hated that.
"They're sisters"Now thinking about it, I could not see any resemblance. Carolina, with the harsh angles in her face, made her look more stern, stoic at times; while Alaskas face was softer, paler, and just simply beautiful.
Carolinas eyes were a pale blue, like the ocean. But Alaska....her eyes... I tried to grasp the words to describe them. Thinking about her gave me the same sick feeling as earlier.
Finally I grabbed a string of a thought. Alaskas eyes were like the bottom of the ocean. Mysterious, dangerous, yet amazingly fascinating. Her face was branded into my mind.
"Hey there Wash, you turned quite red all of the sudden." Wyoming suggested. I didn't mind until York intruded and started to laugh.
"Looks like someone has a crush" York teased.
Everyone started laughing hysterically. Again my face felt hot, but in A different then earlier.
"No I don't. Shut up!" I got defensive, which I regret because it made things worse.
"This is you" she held up a finger which represented me.
"This is Alaska" she held one up on the opposite hand. Violently, or it seemed, she pushed them together and started making kissing noises.
I gritted my teeth and let out a growl, like Maine would have, and walked out of the room, slamming the door. I turned around, about to storm off to my room but I stopped dead.
Standing there was a startled Alaska and an annoyed Carolina.
"Move!" Carolina snapped. I saw Alaska jump at the sound. Again she seemed distant, focusing on something far off, or it seemed. Her eyes flickered back to reality.
"Carolina..." Her voice was barely audible but it sounded like melody to my ears.
"They are talking about us...." She worriedly stated.
Her eyes flicked back and forth across the room, as if danger could pounce on her at any moment. I tried to listen but i could hear nothing What was wrong with this girl?
