Her lips were sweet and soft. I pulled her closer, realizing she was on her tip toes. Perfectly, she fit into the curves of my body like we had been separated all this time. I wanted to get closer to her, but we were already pressed up against each other.
I pulled away and her eyes slowly opened. The stars never have and never will have shined as bright as Alaskas eyes.We both laid down on the roof, and fell asleep with our legs entangled and as I closed my eyes, I realized something. I didn't want sex, I wanted her mind, every secret, every beautiful memory. That's all I wanted.
I awoke to a noise and Alaska not at my side. That was when my world was completely shattered. I heard her scream and I turned around. I saw her silhouette against the rising sun. A large figure appeared behind her and threw her to the ground. He plunged a knife through her chest. Her body went completely limp.
"NO NO NO!" I screamed as I ran after the perpetrator.
For a second he stopped. I could see his white smile flash through the darkness. He flung her body off the edge into the ravine. She was gone. Alaska was gone.
I fell to my knees and screamed at the sky, as the man ran off. Alaska was dead, and I never got a chance....a chance to say goodbye.
I fell to my knees and screamed at the sky, as the man ran off. Alaska was dead, and I never got a chance....a chance to say goodbye.
After, it seemed, like hours of sobbing, I got up. Weakly, I walked into the base and walked to my room and slammed the door. Something glittered on my bed. I looked down.
On the bed was a pair of dog tags, and a letter. On the front, written in cursive, was 'Washington'. Even though I've never seen Alaskas handwriting before, I knew she wrote this. I clenched the dog tags and put them on.
I started to open the letter, making sure to make a clean cut. I pulled out a letter, neatly written in cursive.
'Dear Washington,
I'm sorry, but I no longer will be in service of Project Freelancer. Even though I would love to stay, I cannot. Take my dog tags, Washington. That way, I'll always be with you. Stay safe.
Love,
Alaska.P.s. Look under your bed. I made you a surprise! '
My tears fell onto the note and stained the paper. I kneeled and looked under the bed. A helmet, expertly painted, sat there.
I tried it on, and it fit like a glove, but then it hit me. The scent already fading, of strawberries. This was Alaskas helmet. She repainted it to match my suit.
A knock at the door made me jump.
Carolina entered and sat next to me on the bed."Where's Alaska?" She asked.
Carolina had no idea what had happened. No one except me knew.
"Alaska's dead." I said flatly. All emotions had left me.
And at that moment, Project Freelancer started to fall apart, and so did I.
