Chapter 39

"Is the baby okay?" Duncs asks, he was scared.

"The baby and Miss. Keith should be fine. All they're doing is remove the bullet out of her shoulder, it's just taking some time. Now on the other hand, Mr. Shaw surgery is finished. I can take you to him." the nurse says.

"Yes please."

Duncs, Kelly and Colton follow the nurse down the hallway to room 65. The nurse knocks on the door and tells him people are here to see him. She opens the door and they go in. They see him laying on his side in the bed. As soon as Shawzy saw Duncs' face, he hid his face in the pillows.

"Hey Shawzy, how you feeling?" Duncs asks.

He takes his face out of his pillow. "Okay, where's Katie?" he asks.

"Surgery, their taking the bullet out of her shoulder. Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure?

"What even happen to get you two shot?"

"Katie, ex boyfriend saying if he can't have her, no one can. Me, no clue. I think they just wanted me dead."

"They?"

"Justin, which is her ex and Jason, I think is Justin's friend."

The nurse walks into the room and asks, "Miss. Keith just finished her surgery, you would like to see her?"

"Yes please." Duncs and Kelly say.

"May I also see her?" Shawzy asks.

"Let me do ask your doctor." the nurse says, she walks out of the room and comes back a couple minutes later. "Your doctor said yes, but you need to be in a wheelchair."

He didn't understand why but he listen and got into the wheelchair that she had brought in. They go down to room 2 and go inside. His eyes met with Katie's. She hides her face in the pillows. He grabs her hand and kisses it.

"Hey babe." he says.

"It's my fault." she says but it was muffle by the pillows.

"What's your fault?"

She looks up at Shawzy, "That you got shot. That you, Kelly and Duncs got into my messed up life."

"No, it's not. You were the best thing that ever walked into my life. I don't care if I get hurt, if it means you will be safe. I was worried out of mine when you were taken, I didn't want to lose you. I made you a promise." He shows her the promise ring on her finger. He shows her the one he had on, his was black with red stripes. "That I would help you with the baby when he/she came into the world. But also a promise that I would protect you. That I would care for you. Be there for you. That you would be love by someone who actually loves you..." Tears start to roll down his cheek. Katie wipes his tears as hers continue to fall. He puts his hand on her cheek. "Because Katie Keith, I love you with all my heart."
