Fighter Boy

Chapter 2

Katie woke up the next morning and went to the kitchen. She see Colton in his highchair and Kelly cooking breakfast.

"Good morning." Katie said.

"Hey, can you go wake up Duncs?" Kelly asked.

"Sure"

She go into her room and grabbed a pillow. Then walked to Kelly and Duncan's room. She walked over to him and whispered, "Duncs, time to get up." He still was fast asleep. So, she took her pillow and smacked him with it. He wakes up in a panic and she start to laugh.

"Katie!" He said and next thing she knew, a pillow was coming at her.

"What? You wouldn't wake up." she said.

"Whatever, you want to come with me to practice."

"Yes! Is Andrew Shaw going to be there?"

"He should be."

She has a slight crush on him since he came to the Hawks and is her favorite forward on the team. She also like his game play more than her uncle's.

"Could you also take a couple shots on me after you and the boys are done?" she asked.

"Sure." Duncan said as he got out of bed.

She ran out of the room and showered. She got dress and grabbed her bag full of gear. She walked into the kitchen and puts it down. She sits at the table and starts to eat what Kelly made: eggs and bacon.

Duncan comes into the room and sits at the table. Kelly comes over to him with his food.  He starts to eat as Katie finished hers.

After they were done, Katie grabbed her stuff they went to his car. She threw her stuff into the trunk and jumped in. Duncan jumps in and drives over to the United Center.

They get over to the United Center and Duncan pulls into the player/staff parking lot. They get out of the car and Katie grabs her bag. She went into the stands as Duncan went into the locker room.

Katie watch her uncle and teammates practice. Only person that notice her in the stands, other than her uncle, and that was Andrew Shaw.

He was sitting on the bench, starring at the empty seats. When he saw her sitting at center ice, above the penalty boxes.

"Andrew get out here." Patrick Kane yelled at him. But Andrew didn't hear, he was to focus on the girl.  Patrick skated over to him and splashed some snow into Shaw's face.

"What was that for?" Andrew asked in a panic.

"We need you out on the ice and you didn't respond." Patrick said.

"Fine." He said as he jumped over the bench wall.

At the end of practice, Andrew saw Duncan talking to the girl threw the glass. He watch the girl run up the steps before he skated over to Duncan.

"Duncs, who's that girl you were talking to?" Andrew asked.

"Her?" Duncan said, pointing to the girl. Andrew nods his head yes. "That's my niece, Katie."

"Okay" he said. Man she's pretty. he thought to himself.

"You ready Duncs?" Andrew and Duncan hear from behind them. They turn around to see Katie in her goalie equipment.

"Yep, get warmed up." Duncs said. He grabbed some pucks from the bench and lined them up at center ice. Andrew skated over to the bench.

"Why don't you stay and take some shots on her?" Duncs said to Andrew.

"Sure, why not." Andrew said.

Katie warmed up and skated over to the goalie cress.

"Give it to me hard." Katie said and Duncs took a shot on her. She catches it with her glove and Andrew took a shot. She blocks it with her pad.  The two of them kept shooting at her. Doing a couple shots where they are in playing mood.

After they are done, the the of them go into the locker room. Katie takes off her helmet and Andrew's eyes were locked on her.

Katie had short black hair that didn't go past her shoulders. Here eyes very a nice shade of blue.

"Thanks guys for taking shots on me." Katie said.

"No problem, are you going to try out for the Olympic?" Duncs asked.

"Yep, I want to be starting goalie for team Canada."

"With moves like those, that shouldn't be a problem." Andrew said.

"Thank you Mr. Shaw." Katie said as she put her stuff in her bag.

"No problem. By the way, you can call me Andrew."

"Well come on Katie, Kelly wants us to meet her and Colton for lunch." Duncs said.

"Yes uncle Duncs, bye Andrew." she said and grabbed her bag. She followed Duncs out and Andrew just stood there. His phone ringed, breaking him out of his thoughts.

"Hello?" he said.
