Chapter 42

Crackles and pops of the fire fills the air. A bird chirping or frog croak once in a while blends in with the sound of the fire. Marshmallows roasting over the orange and yellow fire. Sounds of giggles and laughter came from around the fire.

Katie pulls in her stick and places the marshmallow on a cracker. She takes a bit of it and a little of the fluff stuck to her lip.

"You got something on your lip." Shawzy whispers to Katie.

"I do?" she whispers back.

"Yep, let me help you."

He leans into her and kisses her. She kisses back and their lips stay together. Passionately kissing each other. They kept like that until Kane says, "Don't you know there are children here you two."

Kelly slaps him on the knee. Kane came to the cottage after he broke up with his girlfriend and need to get away from the city.

They quickly pull apart and Shawzy says, "The only child here is inside of Katie. Unless you are calling yourself the child." She rest her head on his shoulder and starts to rub her belly. He places his head on top of hers and watch the fire dance.

"One more month." he whispers to her.

"I know, I can't believe it. I don't know if I'm ready or not." she whispers back.

"Your ready and I'm right here by your side." he whispers back, placing a kiss on her head.

Kelly drags Kane inside, leaving the two of them alone since Duncs was in the house with Colton.

"I love you, you're the best thing that came into my life." he says. He gets up and drags her over to the open field. Where there was a blanket with pillows on it. They lay down and he grabs the blanket that was sitting next to him. He puts it over the two of them. He moves towards Katie, who had her back to him, and wraps his arms around her. His hands resting with hers on her belly. Their fingers lock with each other as they lay there. They watch the stars in the sky until they fell asleep, with her in his arms.
