"Alright, I think I'm ready to go!" (Name) adjusted the strap on her bag before grinning at Link. He nodded and flicked Epona's reins. She snorted softly and started trotting along. He flicked them again and she sped up before settling into a mild canter.

"Why do you use Epona so much instead of, like, teleporting everywhere?" (Name) asked, resting her head in the crook of Link's shoulder. She didn't really have a lot of physical boundaries, and Link didn't really mind. After not having any physical contact in 100 years, he took pleasure in another person's warmth.

"It feels more natural, I guess. Besides, fast travelling feels weird," He replied. He wasn't lying. Fast travelling did make his stomach twist a little bit, but it wasn't bad enough that he would particularly avoid it. At first, it was because he didn't know if you could fast travel with two people. Now, it was more the fact that he would get to spend more time with (Name) if he went on horseback. But he wouldn't admit that.

(Name) hummed in acknowledgement.

"Where are we going?"

"I want to teach you to fight. So we're going to a clearing I spotted earlier," (Name)'s eyes widened.

"Wait, really? Like, with a sword and stuff?" Link nodded.

"Sweet! I got a real-life knight teaching me! Man, I'm gonna be so badass..." Link chuckled a bit while (Name) scanned his weapons. They approached the clearing, and Link hopped off Epona, and then offered a hand to (Name), who took it and not-so-gracefully slid off the tall horse and shot him a wide grin.

Link pulled off his shield, bow, and quiver, and placed them by a nearby tree before tying Epona to its trunk. He then sifted through the many weapons he had collected through his travels, (how he managed to carry them all, (Name) had no clue) and finally settled on two smallish looking blades.

"These are traveller's swords," He said, walking back over to the girl and handing her one. "They are fairly common, you can pretty much find these laying around anywhere. I would've started you with something like a tree branch, but we don't have much time, and I want you to get acquainted with at least a few types of weapons today,"

He walked in front of (Name) so that he was looking directly at her.

"Alright. This is a one-handed sword, so I'm going to teach you a basic grip. Hold out your hand like you're giving someone a handshake. Place the sword in the center of your palm. Now, curl your fingers around the base, and apply pressure with your middle, ring, and pinky. Keep your thumb on top, pointed forward."

(Name) did as Link told her, wrapping her fingers around the leather grip and allowing the weight of the sword to settle in her hand. It was a foreign feeling, but not unwelcome.

"Good. This grip keeps the wrist flexible and makes it easier to move the sword. Use this grip for most one-handed weapons. Now, relax your arm. Keep the elbow loose and slightly bent. Legs should be shoulder-width apart, relaxed, but alert. Move your dominant foot slightly forward, yes, good."
