Our chances were slim. But we couldn't give up now. I raced back towards the control panel began to search around the place. "Derrick, what do we do now?" Tails asked worriedly. "Do whatever you can to hold him off! I think I might have an idea how to fix everything!" I replied. "But what if we all end up getting deleted?" I wasn't sure what to say to that. But nothing was going to hold me back. "Even if you do, I know how to fix it. Hold them all off for as long as you can! I need you to trust me!"
Everyone looked doubtful but in the end, went into the heat of the battle. "Let's do this! For our freedom!" Tails shouted. War battle cries were loud as they dashed out into the main room. You can do it! I told myself. My attention was turned back to the weird table that Monika was working with earlier. If there's anything I know about machines, there's usually a setting that'll help me return things to normal. I was searching around for that switch. That's when I climbed under the table to see if I could find anything. Jackpot! There was a whole part of the table where a whole lid came off. When I took that lid off, there was a whole system underneath that was locked on my end. I guess I'll have to crack the code. While I was clicking on the board, I heard the horrified screams of my friends getting turned into nothing. "What else have you got you piece of corrupted numbers? We've just started to fight!" Eggman shouted.
But that was before I heard him start to yell in pain before it stopped. C'mon Derrick! You're going so slow! I thought as I unlocked the next part of the machine. "Such a disgrace!" the Code Master snapped. I heard him annihilate two more characters in his path. "Who's responsible for all this madness?" he growled.
Uh oh. I worked much faster than last time. I was worried about what could've happened if I said something. So I tried to stay focused. "Wait... you had that weird boy with you. The one I couldn't open his memory cloud with." he realized. "The one who thought he could make a fool of me!" he bellowed. "You, mistake of a fox, where is he?" He asked angrily. "I-I don't know!" I heard Tails cry. "LIAR! Where is he? Tell me now or this other fox dies!" he roared. In the mix of the chaos, I thought I heard a smaller cry. "Vee! Vee! Eevee!" went the whimpers. I managed to take a peek from under the table to see him holding an Eevee in his hands. "No! Don't hurt her! I seriously don't know where he is!" he pleaded.
"Truly you don't know?" he asked. I watched Tails nod his head frantically. "Well, then that changes everything." he said, reaching his hand out to help him up from the ground. I wanted to shout at Tails to not take it, but if I did, I could ruin my whole mission. "Thanks for being so honest." he replied. Unsure of what he could say, I watched as Tails just nodded his head. I gave a huge sigh of relief for his mercy. But right when I thought it was solved; "AHHH!"
Then it was silent. I saw the binary codes spread all across the floor. "Vee Vee Eevee! Vee Eevee!" the Eevee cried, trying to wriggle out of his grasp. "COME OUT BOY! I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF!" The Code Master shouted, tightening the grip on the Eevee. "DO IT OR I'LL DELETE THIS ONE JUST LIKE I DID TO THE OTHERS!"
You don't have a choice, Derrick. Unless you want anyone else to suffer, you need to act. I'll figure it out soon.
I rolled from underneath the table, hands up, and walking towards him. "Okay, I'm here. Don't do anything to her." I pleaded, walking slowly towards him. "HAHA! You look more pathetic than before!" he cackled. I just stood there as he continued to laugh as if I told a hilarious joke. "I-I still can't believe you're the start of the rebellion! Oh, this is too much!" he laughed. "Here, take her since you care so much." he snapped after he had calmed down. He threw Eevee into my grasp. She seemed so happy and nuzzled me.
"You're a monster." I whispered. I barely noticed the damage but now... it was a total mess in this tower. "I told you to stay away. I told them all to stay away from my tower. That I'm the most powerful thing in this world. Now thanks to you and your bright ideas... they all have to suffer the consequences. I've worked too hard to make this place what it was supposed to be. The last thing I needed was someone like you to ruin it all. Oh well, nothing like a new code to fix everything. Once I'm done, everything will return the way they were. All that work was for nothing! You wasted your time! I've already won."
The Code Master walked back into the other room where there was still a working computer. "What franchise are you from? I want to delete your game so that no one can repeat this history. You'll be the only sad survivor." he asked.
"I... I don't have a franchise. I'm not even from around here. But I didn't come for no reason. I wanted to put an end to their suffering." I said, holding my head high. "HA! You don't expect me to believe that do you?" he asked, getting much closer to my face.
"The only reason I let you live is that I take great pleasure in not only your stupidity but also your sadness. Any emotion that isn't a nice one is good to me. It tells me you're staying in line. Now tell me before I delete your memories permanently!" "And I told you! I DON'T HAVE ONE!" Eevee shrunk back in my grip, scared of everything that's been going on. "Awww. Is your little Eevee going to run away? That's all you're good for anyway." he snapped.
"You know nothing about the rest of the people and creatures living here! You just take and you don't care! What if you had their roles! What would you think about that!?"
He just stared at me. I wondered what he was thinking. "At least I'm happy with how the world made me. They were acting like petulant children when they didn't like what they received. I would've been happy being whoever I was. But they wanted to be the opposite of what they were supposed to be!"
"But that's not who they wanted to be! That's what the world wanted!" I held Eevee with one arm and grabbed something out of my bag. "See this book! That's what my world thinks!" I snapped, throwing the book to the ground. "But now that I know how awful this world is... how ridiculous it's been to hide their true selves. I'm glad I'm in a spot where that isn't an issue." I sighed. "Well, I don't have time to listen to people cry. I have a world to lead and fix. Something you can't possibly understand. Now, if you don't mind, I don't need you in my tower!" he snapped, waving his hand at me. Eevee looked at me, worried about what might happen.
I've had just about enough with this world.
Gently, I placed her on the ground, then walked towards the Master. "No." Angrily, he turned at me, getting close to my face. Excuse me!?"
"You heard me. I said, "no". I promised everyone that lives here, that I'd make everything better. I'm not leaving until the problem is resolved!"
"And what are you, a measly human, going to do to stop me? I am technology, I have knowledge of everything single thing in this universe, I'm the thing that makes humanity better! And. You. Have. Nothing!" he snapped. "Well, we're capable of doing one thing that you can't do!" I said happily. "Oh really? And what would that be?"
I gave him a smirk and motioned over to the door of the tower. "Just go look!" I said, pointing over in that direction. Confused and concerned, he walked over there. This was my chance.
I sprinted over to the table I was working on earlier, used all my strength to flip the table, and it revealed the reset button. Only then did he actually notice me and Eevee doing something. "What are you up to now you rat?" he asked, marching towards us. "Vee vee!" Eevee snapped. "I don't know what she said, but I can tell we've both had enough of this! Humans created you... and we can get rid of you."
That's when I hit the reset button.
