Chapter 16

Third Person due to the Aftermath

Derrick laid on the ground, motionless from the powerful impact. Eevee who had also fallen was safe from the terrible fall. There was nothing there to harm them or anything nearby. Once the tower was finally gone, a strange glow spread across the lands of the entire Video game universe. Everyone that lived there felt or saw the glow in the distance which caught everyone off guard. They looked in the direction of the tower that was once visible by everyone and was shocked to see that it was no longer in its spot.

"Woah, it's gone!"

"What happened to it?"

"Did an update occur?"

Meanwhile, at the location where the tower once stood, scraps of binary codes began to soar up from the ground. They began to form shapes, figures, and eventually, an entire character. Everyone who had been shattered and broken into a million pieces before were now coming back to life. Shocked to see themselves back to normal made them joyful and happy.

"We did it yeah!"

"Hallelujah, we're free!"

"I wasn't scared at all. I knew we could do it."

"Whoo-hoo! This was all Derrick! He encouraged us to get our freedom!" Tails cheered. "Speaking of Derrick, where is he?" Monika wondered.

Soon everyone looked around, wondering where their good friend and leader went. "Derrick! Derrick, where'd you go? We want to celebrate a victory!" Baldi shouted. Animals sniffed the air, wondering where in the world he had gone. "Derrick!" they shouted, searching for him anywhere. "Derrick!?" they shouted. That's when they thought the worst thing possible. "What if he ended up getting sucked into the huge hole too?!" Amy cried. "No! It couldn't have happened that way! Derrick is just too smart to get in the middle of that!" Bendy replied but was scared to admit the truth.

That's when Eevee popped out from her hiding spot, finding someone she could try to communicate with. "Vee! Eevee! Vee vee vee!" she squeaked, rushing over to the crowd. "Eevee! I was wondering what happened. You okay?" Ash questioned, coming down to her level. "Vee! Vee vee vee eevee vee!" she cried. When no one did anything, Pikachu trotted over towards her. "Pika pika?" "Vee vee! Eevee vee!" "Pika pika pikachu pika! Pika pika?" "Vee vee Eevee!" Then the two bolted into the woods. "Hey! Wait up! Come guys, they must be onto something!" Ash told them, then they all darted into the woods.

Wondering where they were going, they started tiring chasing them into the woods. That's when they saw it. Eevee and Pikachu were trying to wake up Derrick who was still passed out from his crash. "Oh my gosh..." Ash gasped, being the first one to see him this way. "Vee vee!" "Pika pika!"

"Derrick!" Tails cried, rushing over to his side. "Oh no!" Bendy gasped, also going to his side. Everyone else who had finally seen what had happened was also upset. "I-Is he dead?" Monika whispered.

No one said anything, scared to start anything. "Let me check!" Eggman urged, pushing past the rest of the crowd. He turned Derrick on his side, looking for a pulse. "He's alive! But very much in pain!" he shouted. Though he was very much like the rest of them, everyone had no idea what to do. After all, he was fully human and not just a digital person. They rushed him to any urgent care they could get him to.

Word was spread that there was a great heroine that was had something to do with the disappearance of the Code Master. No one knew what to think about it. They couldn't believe a complete stranger risked his entire life and happiness for them to reach a better life and future. Every doctor, scientist, surgeon, and nurse came to see what they could do for Derrick who's heartbeat was slowing down every second that went by. All the friends and allies were praying for the best, hoping nothing awful would happen.

Some blamed themselves, some were crying, some could only sit in shock as they tried to recall the last moments they remembered.

Where was that voice coming from? I tried to brush it off and forget about it. Derrick. I finally opened my eyes and looked at the person in front of me. "Mom?" I asked stunned. "Derrick? Where are you? How come we can't find you?" she asked sadly. Where was I? "Mom? I'm right here!" I shouted. She turned around and looked in my direction. She didn't move but I ran towards her and hugged her tightly. "Derrick?! Where are you? I can't find you!" she cried. "I'm in the digital world mom! But please don't worry! I'm coming home!" I reassured.

"How do I know that for sure?" she asked sadly. "Because... Because lying is a bad way to be a slave to your words?" Once she heard that, she smiled. "Come back to us... we need you." she begged. "Trust me. I am. But there's something I need to do first!" I promised. "Take your time."

With that, I smiled one last time, and then I fell backward. I crashed through this weird mind water place.

I snapped awake in a bed, giving a huge gasp. I started breathing heavily as people and creatures came to my side to try to help me relax. "Breathe Derrick, breathe!" someone said.

"Hold still! We need to check your stats!"

"Hang in there for us!"

They were doing all this weird stuff. I felt a tube of something go into my arm. There was a machine helping me learn to breathe again. I had a mask go over my mouth and nose.

It felt like hours before I was finally allowed to rest. I tried my best to feel better. But everything hurt. The fall of the building somehow didn't kill me. Which I don't understand. How were the friends that I freed in this new place? I didn't know. I just wanted to go home at this point. I saw the door open on my left side of the hospital room I was in.

The person turned on a light that was furthest away from me. He walked over and sat down in the chair on my right and held my hand and patted it. "Ya did good kid. You helped us all." Eggman! He's okay! "The plan... The plan worked?" I asked weakly. "Yes, good boy. It did." he said, barely smiling. "Now that you've done us a good favor... we're going to help to fix you. Stay with us." he said happily. I smiled and closed my eyes. I'll try... I'll try for them.
