Chapter 17

After a couple of days, I felt better. It was strange not being paralyzed after a huge drop to the ground. Eventually, my friends were more than happy to see me again. I was trapped in a cycle of endless hugs. But I wasn't going to complain too much! I barely had friends back home so the change was nice. Although, I feel like my ribs will be sore for weeks! "You have no idea how worried we've been! We thought you died from that huge fall!" Tails said. "Well, I thought so too if I'm being honest!" I chuckled. "We're so happy! I can't believe it's all different now!" Bendy added. "How so?"

"Well, you know how everyone was trapped before we were locked up? They were freed! And everyone who lost their memories got them back!" Monika explained. "Wow, I have missed a lot." I said.

They laughed and I felt better knowing they were okay. "Okay, Derrick! I've filled out all the paperwork and you're ready to go!" Nurse Joy said as she walked in. "Wait really? You're saying I'm fine?" I asked confused. "Yep! With our technology and special staff, we were able to fix everything that could've gone wrong! So, you seem healthy enough to be ready to walk out and go. But, I'd be careful. There's a lot of people outside!" she said before walking out of my room. I looked at my other friends who smiled and tried their best to help me out of bed. It felt so weird because it's been a while since I was able to get up and move around.

My legs were shaky and felt like jello after being asleep for who knows how long. I also felt... different. I looked at my hands and arms and saw that my veins were partially green. "What... What the heck." I said under my breath. "They had to give you new blood. Something happened during surgery and they didn't want to risk anything. So they gave it a go." Monika explained. "So... what does this mean?" I asked. "It means that- well, you're kind of one of us now!" Bendy replied. I didn't understand what they meant. And I think they knew I didn't understand.

They stood shoulder to shoulder with one another and looked right at me. That's when their outer cover began to disappear. Each of them only showed me the support structure with binary codes. "I'm... I'm part digital?" I asked. They returned back to their normal state. "Yeah, in a way. Don't worry though! You still have human in you. Except, you've become more like us in a whole new way." Monika explained.

At least I'm alive. They didn't know what else to do. Besides, it's not like I can't learn more about it. "This is actually pretty cool! I get to be like the rest of you!" I cheered. They were happy and helped me down the multiple levels of floors to get to the bottom. When we got closer to the door, through the sliding doors, there were crowds of people waiting and cheering. "What... What is this?" I asked, very confused about what was going on. "Everyone heard the news Derrick! They all know that you saved us!" Monika replied. "We better be careful though!" Tails said and they all helped me outside. The minute I walked outside, everyone there surrounded me. But in a good way! "THANK YOU DERRICK!" "YOU'RE AWESOME!" "WE LOVE YOU!" "WAY TO STAY STRONG!" "YEAH DERRICK!"

Cheers for me? Wow, this really is a huge step in my life. I smiled and hid my face for a moment. I wasn't used to all this sort of attention! Usually, when I get cheered for, it's my mom cheering louder than all the basketball moms out there. "C'mon! People are wanting to hear what you have to say!" Bendy said, all three leading me to a car. We got inside and we drove all around. Everywhere I went people were waving at me and trying to get my attention. There were signs all over the place thanking me for a hundred times over. I couldn't believe this was happening! Everyone was happy... to see me? All of it seemed unreal.

But, where were we going now? "Okay, we're here Derrick!" Monika said and we exited the vehicle. "So you guys took me all the way to Princess Peach's castle?" I asked. "She's the only one here with a loudspeaker. This is where other things are announced all around the video game universe! This is where everyone will be able to see and hear you!" Bendy said happily.

We walked inside where a ton of others were waiting to see me. A lot of Toads, Princess Peach herself, smaller pokemon, robots, and someone who they mentioned towards the beginning of our journey.

All of them moved away as a long snake with a machine for the main body slithered towards me. "Well, I finally meet the boy who freed me!" he smiled. "Wait, are you... Lyric?" I asked, stunned. "I am indeed! My role was to be a ruthless villain. I didn't enjoy my role, but I followed the rules to help me live. I decided that this world had suffered enough. So I was experimenting with my crystals to see if I could try and get help from the outside. Even though my crystal had made it on the outside, nothing else seemed to work. Our Master found out about what I had done... and I was imprisoned..." he explained.

"But thanks to you, I am now free from his grasps! Along with so many others who have endured so much pain! And now, we're wanting to show our gratitude!" he finished, leading me somewhere else. Next thing I knew, I was on a balcony that led out into the open where a whole swarm of characters was outside cheering... cheering for me!

"YEAH DERRICK!"
"WE LOVE YOU DERRICK!"
"THANKS DERRICK!"
"YOU'RE OUR HERO!"

I looked over to my friends who smiled and gave me thumbs-ups. When I turned around, Lyric was urging me to go to the balcony and went closer to see the crowd better. A few toads set up a microphone and gave me a signal to walk up to it. "Go on Derrick! Our people want to hear what you have to say!" Lyric whispered.

Oh. Do they want a speech? Shoot I've never done something like this before. Well, I have always just gone with the flow.

"Um... Hello everyone! Uh, Ima be real I've never done a speech before. But I'm trying my best today. First off, you're welcome for everything that happened. I'm surprised it went as well as it did! I have to thank everyone that helped out with the rebellion. I would've never gotten anywhere if not for them. To be honest, you guys are my heroes! I've grown up with you guys in my life for as long as I can remember! I was so shocked that someplace like this even existed." I said happily.

Then I looked down in my hands. I still had the photo of my parents and me. "For me, family is everything! And you guys are a part of me. So I fought for what was right. Now, you can be free to make your own decisions! I know it'll be a weird transaction but I know you can find it out." I promised them. "Well, speaking of which Derrick! We wanted to ask you something!" Peach replied to me. I looked at her confused but then a few more servants came out carrying a crown on a pillow. "Will you Derrick, be our King?" she asked happily.

Suddenly everyone cheered my name, chanting, and applauding for me. "KING DERRICK! KING DERRICK! KING DERRICK! KING DERRICK! KING DERRICK!" they shouted.

A... A King?

I'm so sorry for the delay! Ik it's probably been a year but.. I got lazzyyyy. Anyways thankfully I'm almost done with this one. I just got caught up in doing my other stories. So here you go! Peace.
