"Emerson Phoenix! Come down for breakfast, you're gonna be late for your first day of high school." My mother called up to me from the kitchen.
"I'd rather not go just to be bullied...again." I yelled back while turning over, pulling the covers over my head to attempt to block out the bullshit.
A gust of wind came from out of nowhere, and I turned over to see none other than my mother with a scowl on her face.
"I wasn't asking. Get. Up. Now." Her eyes said everything I needed to know. This wasn't a threat it was a promise without words.
I groaned and turned over. Damn her and her teleporting.
I started pulling clothes out of my closet and found my old backpack from last year. Still strong and sturdy I see.
After 35 minutes I was dressed and pissed.
Why do I have to go to Superhuman school if I wasn't a superhuman.
"You're just a late bloomer son, no need to be so hard on yourself."
"Dad can you get the hell out of my head, please and thank you." I yelled out to where ever he was.
"Watch your mouth, and I'm at work. Hence why I'm talking to you through your head smart one." He was irritated and I didn't feel like continuing this conversation.
I mentally put up a wall so he knew to leave me alone. If only my mother was that easy to get rid of.
"Eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Hurry up before you're late. I'll be transporting us there since you decided to throw a little tantrum this morning." She huffed out whole pouring orange juice into my glass.
I groaned out loud.
"Don't you know how embarrassing that will be to arrive with my mother to school. Now I'm powerless and a baby, they'll have a field day with me."
From the corner of my eye, I saw a stray tear fall from my mom's eyes. Oh no.
I got up quickly and briskly made my way over to get to her. I wrapped her up in my arms until she stopped sniffling.
"Mom this isn't your fault. Maybe I am a late bloomer, but this has nothing to do with you, you did everything right." I tried to soothe her pain.
"Maybe there was more I could have done. It's not fair that you are on this island but yet you're powerless. What did I do wrong?" She questioned out loud.
"You did nothing wrong, I promise."
She pulled away and got a napkin to dab her eyes. I smiled at her and gave her another hug, which she greatly accepted.
"Remember, you don't need powers to be a decent person. Don't let those assholes change my baby. I love you."
"I love you too mom." I mumbled back.
She held my hand and told me to close my eyes. I closed them and when I reopened them, I was standing at the schools entrance and I could tell the bell was about to ring because no one was outside.
"Hurry up and get to class." She pushed me forward lightly.
I scurried off quickly. Luckily I had my signature hoodie on, and so, I put on my hood as usual and went into the class that was on my schedule. My hoodie is about the only thing that makes me feel comfortable around these assholes.
History of super-humans.
"Great I get to hear this story yet again." I muttered to myself.
I opened the door and was greeted with familiar forest green eyes and grey hair. A soft smile graces his face.
