                           Grandpa's P.O.V

"Being the first generation of superhuman was never easy. I still get memories and nightmares of how we were treated by humans and we were only kids.

I still remember that day when hundreds had lost their lives. The day I tell people I lost control.

I wasn't the monster everyone thought I was and believe it or not, I didn't kill all those people. Your grandmother did.

She was the strongest superhuman I've ever met. She was immortal just like me but all I had was super hearing, strength, speed, mind commands, and I could fly.

She on the other hand could do anything as long as she could touch you. Your grandmother had the power of life or death at her fingertips.

With just a touch, she could bring someone back to life or easily take it when she felt like it. But, if she touched you and didn't kill you, she'd gain something from you whether it be a memory from a human or powers from a superhuman.

She had the powers of every superhuman to walk this earth and all she had to do was touch them to gain them. The power of death was driven strictly by anger while the power of life was given by love and joy.

Your grandmother was often sold to the highest bidder by humans because she was so powerful and that's how me and her crossed paths.

The humans that had her, also had me after they snatched me from my parents on this farm. She was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen and she was also the most broken.

Humans made her often kill those that they hated or give life to someone they lost. They drugged her to make her happy enough to give life and when she sobered up she was easily angered enough to take it.

That's when she lost it. She couldn't do it anymore. She got so angry and her body shook so aggressively. She started glowing and her eyes weren't their beautiful brown eyes. They were pure white.

She let out an ear piercing screech and that's when the whole city just kind of vaporized and everything and everyone was gone. She hadn't realized what she done until she was calming down. She was scared and devastated that she'd done something so drastic.

I told her to go and I'll take the blame. She was hesitant and begged me not to do it, but I wasn't taking no for an answer. That's where the other super kids got involved and you know how that went.

Till this day, no one knows that your grandma was the reason that the city didn't stand anymore only the elders that sit at the very council knows the truth, but I loved her so much that's I'd become the villain everyday as long as she was the hero.

On the island we got married and waited a long time before we decided to have kids. Then next thing you know, she's pregnant with your mother.

When your mother was born, your grandmother decided by herself that her powers were too strong and she was scared that one day she'd get so mad again and hurt our little girl. I tried to calm her but she didn't want to listen.

I pleaded with her to just give it a chance but she didn't wanna take the risk. She said powers like hers shouldn't exist. It shouldn't be given or taken lightly and that's what happened with her.

She turned her powers against herself. She took her own life in order to protect her daughter."

I laughed bitterly. She did all of that just for her grandson to inherit her own gifts.

"Granddad I'll try everything to become a better person. I will not let myself become so clouded. I'll work hard I promise." Emerson hugged me and I graciously accepted it.

"Until I know how to control it, you'll need to wear gloves. Just in case you get a spike of excitement or anger. I can't have you hurting people Emerson. This world is different and the people are a lot harsher especially to beings that shouldn't even exist."

Emerson nodded his head in understanding.

"Does my mother know." He asked barely above a whisper.

"She has no clue. Please don't tell her the truth. She thinks so highly of her mother and I can't live to see the pain of her knowing what her mother was and what she had done."

I can't lose the only thing I have left of my love.
