Odia Poem:
Transliteration:

Lekhaka- Damodar Behera
Jibana jahara parara akhi ru
Jharaya ditopa luha,
Nara nuhe siye ate naradhama
Ye kathati janithao.
Katha dei jie katha rakhenahi
Bujhenahi kaha mana,
Manisa nuhe ate se adhama
Pae nahi sanmana.
Muha dekhi jie parenahi jani
Antarara pratichabi,
Taku ki kahiba anubhabi jane
Se kiba bhabuka kabi.
Dukha dekhijie kahenahi thare
Aha pade manisare,
Pasu tharu hina patharara prana
Jien thau thau mare.Translation:
Identity
Writer- Damodar Behera
The person who is the reason for others' tears is not a man, he is a demon.
Those who never keep promises, never understand other's feeling, they are not human, they are miscreant who never get respect.
Those who can't read soul by seeing one's face they can't be called experienced, they can't be called emotional poet.
Those who never console a sad person are even worst than animals, they have no meaning of their life and are dead inspite of being alive.Compiled by JyotiiD

(Puram 192)Meaning:
As translated by G.U.Pope
To us all towns are one, all men our kin,
Life's good comes not from others' gifts, nor ill,
Man's pains and pain's relief are from within,
Death's no new thing, nor do our blossoms thrill
When joyous life seems like a luscious draught.
When grieved, we patient suffer; for, we deem
This much-praised life of ours a fragile raft
Borne down the waters of some mountain stream
That o'er huge boulders roaring seeks the plain
Tho' storms with lightning's flash from darkened skies.
Descend, the raft goes on as fates ordain.
Thus have we seen in visions of the wise !
We marvel not at the greatness of the great;
Still less despise we men of low estate.By: Kaniyan Poongundran
