Over the ages of unknown pages of history, where the inscriptions were marked on the pioneering skills of craftsmanship, I existed in this world. Like a soul to their artistic body I was born in this world of Divine hostility somewhere on or before 1st Century BC.
Being the innocent one to have been existing without knowing my actual origin; being the bystander who had witnessed the rise and fall of many mortal reigns. Being the diplomatic one to adapt to any required friendly changes; being the strongest one, who had refrained and restricted the invasions of cunning animals, I have been living and loved by my people. These pages of history I witnessed and the evolutionary changes that I have undergone are vast and factual.

✨Vanakkam. Yaan Tamil. Idhu en vazhkai.✨ Greetings! I'm Tamil and this is my story.
Each one of us has a name and each name has got a meaning. So my name is Tamil and it can be split to extract the meaning. Here is it:'Tam' - self/oneself; 'il' - one's own speech.
Some of the linguists argue that my present name is derived from the words Tav-il/Tak-il with its meaning as 'proper process of speaking'. Later on my meaning became the oneness of sweetness, nature and beauty. So I leave it up to you on how you wish to interpret my title.
I belong to the family of Proto South DRAVIDIAN LANGUAGES that include Malayalam and Kannada along with me while Telugu belongs to Proto Central Dravidian Genealogy.

If you look much closer on my modifications you can easily see that along with scripture my authority and audacity in phonetics and literature have also been changing with ages. Keeping those as the base, the historians have classified me into 3 stages.
✨OLD TAMIL: 300 BC to 700 AD
✨MIDDLE TAMIL: 700 AD to 1600 AD
✨NEW TAMIL: 1600 AD to Present

I evolved from Brahmi script and later it was substituted by 'வட்டெழுத்து' (Vattezhuthu), thorough which I currently exist in this era. I also have some members from Grantha script to convey some words of my divine friend Sanskrit and other relatives. Here I stand as a symbol of true friendship.
