Sindhi is an Indo Aryan language which is spoken in south eastern Pakistan, the Sindh province. It is a historical language which has evolved from the early times of history. It was the first language in which Quran was translated to.

Sindhi has words from many languages in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. For example the word for farmer is derived from the word Aratro of Latin similarly word Harvest is derived from the word Hari (Farmer) of Sindhi.

Word Day of English has relation to the word Deo (Lamp) same word (Deo) is also referred to as god in Latin.

The name "Sindhi" is derived from Sindhu, the original name of the Indus River.

According to Sindhi tradition, the first translation of the Quran into Sindhi was completed in the year 883 CE / 270 AH in Mansura, Sindh.

The translation was made possible by Abdullah bin Umar bin Abdul Aziz on a request of a Hindu Raja Mehruk in 884 CE.

The dialects of Sindhi include Siroli, Vicholi, Lari, Lasi, Kathiawari Kachhi, Thari or Thareli, Macharia, Dukslinu and Muslim Sindhi.

The "Siroli or Siraiki" dialect in northern Sindh is distinct from the Saraiki language of South Punjab and has variously been treated either as a dialect of it, or as a dialect of Sindhi. The Sindhi dialects previously known as "Siraiki" are nowadays more commonly referred to as "Siroli".

Sindhi is one of the oldest languages and seventy percent of words used in the Sindhi language are from the Sanskrit language. The Sindhi language is written in Arabic script.

Because of Arabic script, many people think that Sindhi is the Persio-Arabic tongue but the truth is that Sindhi is a purely Sanskritic language and its grammatical formation is concerned, it is free from foreign characteristics as compared to other languages.
