The warm wind blew through my brown locks as I smiled brightly while gazing around to take in the beautiful spring day. The sky was filled with cherry blossom petals falling to the ground as the streets painted themselves pink. It felt as if I were in one of those dramas where life just felt perfect.
And as of this moment, it did feel perfect.
I looked at the man who was now clinging his arm around me. His smile ever so bright as his dimples said hello.
I stared at him for a while, marveling at the sight that was right in front of me.
"I know I look absolutely stunning, baby but you are making me feel shy." He spoke without looking at me.
I noticed how his ears started to turn red as quickly as he said his statement. I laughed at how adorable he looked.
I shifted my gaze on the pavements that we were walking on, the stone and grass around were covered with the beautiful hue of spring. I couldn't help but smile.
"You still love the spring, huh?" Sunghoon's voice sounded dreamy.
I looked back at him and returned his smile, "What's not to love about spring?"
He chuckled at my response before pulling me towards our destination.
He prepared a little picnic for both of us here at the park near our high school campus. He said he missed the ambiance of it and frankly I did too.
As we sat on the blanket he prepared and ate the snacks he had on the basket we started to reminisce.
"Remember the first time we met?"
"How could I forget? You literally broke my glasses."
"It was an accident!" He rebutted. "Though I don't regret doing that."
I looked at him offended, "What? Those glasses cost a lot! You snapped them into two."
"I accidentally sat in it! I just wanted to ask you a question about our homework."
"Still! You just said you don't regret doing it." I crossed my arms in front of me.
"Because I saw your eyes clearly that time." He smiled and pulled my arms away from each other and held my arm gently. "Usually you're eyes are covered by your glasses and hair. You never look up."
"I didn't like attention." I bit my lip remembering.
He chuckled and said, "But somehow you caught my attention."
"Cringe." My face is distorted.
He laughed, "You know what's even more cringe?"
"What?"
"I rushed to get you new glasses because I didn't want anyone to see your eyes like how I did." He reminisced.
I scoffed, "Stop lying, you rushed because our teacher was really mad about that."
"Okay, that too." He pointed out and laughed, "But I really wanted to keep you to myself that much before."
His laughter subsided and he looked at me with fondness in his eyes, a look bringing butterflies back to my stomach. "I knew a lot would definitely fall for you once they see your eyes. There was something about them. Something about the way they sparkled."
My heart was beating fast and to prevent my cheeks from getting red, I teased him, "Simp."
He laughed, not denying my claim. "That is exactly what Jay told me when I told that story to him, you're adapting his sassiness. Stay away from him."
I shook my head in defense, "He's literally the person who gives my paycheck so I'd rather stick with him."
"How was that anyway?" He started to ask, "Working with Jay."
"I get a lot of privilege. I get to yell at the CEO a lot so that's at the top of my list." I smiled cheekily at him. We always loved messing with Jay.
"I mean, even I would let you do that if I were him, your books were all bestsellers. I had such a hard time looking for one because of how fast they sold out."
He looked at the view and sighed. A sigh of relief and sudden joy. "I remembered how you dreamt of releasing your first book and now look at where you are, I'm so proud of you."
I looked at him, how long have I been waiting for him to come back and say those words, "I dreamt of hearing that from you."
He looked at me with a guilty expression along with regret and sadness that made my heart flinch in pain.
He brushed my hair out of my face and said, "I'm sorry I'm a bit late, my pearl."
"You calling me that makes me remember the assignment Jay has given me." I groaned trying to divert our attention to a less intense subject.
"Why? What is it?"
"It's a book by this mysterious writer. I need to write an amazing review. It's like a contest and the person to give the best review would have a chance to interview the mystery writer." I explained. "The book revolves around the writer's story with a girl named Pearl."
"It reminded me a lot of you," I smiled at him. "It's actually the reason why I finally wrote the final book for the series. It opened a lot of scars."
"I'm sorry, Lumi." He murmured again still not looking at me.
I quickly grabbed his face and made him look at me, "Hey! I didn't tell that story to guilt you. I just wanted to share how I remembered us while I read the book."
"Should I read that?" He smiled which made me feel calm.
I chuckled, "Stop fooling yourself, you hate reading books."
"Yeah, you're right. The only stories I read are yours, even with your drafts back in high school." He admitted.
"Thank you," I said abruptly.
He looked at me with questioning eyes and I smiled at him before explaining. "For believing in me back then."
He held my hand and kissed the top of my hand, "You're the only one I believe in, my pearl."

I do miss it, Pearl.
You sharing your passion with me and the same with me.
I still remember the first time you told me what you wanted to do in life. A profession neither your parents nor our professors wanted you to pursue.
You were smart. So much so that they wanted everything for you.
But I knew you didn't want everything, you wanted something simple, you wanted to be doing something you love.
It's one of the qualities that made me fall in love with you even more.
Pearl, I hope you're doing what you love now. I hope you are happy, like how we pictured you to be. How you dreamed to be.
I'll be supporting you, always.
