"Here."

A loud thud echoed through Jay's office as I dropped an inch and a half pile of papers.

"What is that?" He asked as he glared at me for the startling sound.

"The finale of my trilogy?" I said obliviously as I sat on the chair in front of his desk. He looked up at me with wide eyes.

"You finished it?"

Still shocked his hands fumbled upon the pieces of paper and flipped through the pages. He quickly looked for the end of the story and as he read the last chapter, I felt nervous.

His opinion always mattered to me, Jay knew what would sell. Jay knew what would be the best marketing choice for books to sell.

He taught me that as well. But the thing is after I met Sunghoon again, I wrote this story diligently. I poured my heart and soul into this. My hands never stopped writing even when my eyes became blurry of tears.

As I wrote the story I never once thought of market or sales. I just knew I needed to get it off my chest.

He closed the flipped pages and looked at me seriously.

My heartbeat quickened, "What do you think?"

"Angst? Really?"

I started to become defensive, "What? Angst sells well, you told me that yourself!"

"I know, Lumi. And no doubt this is a great ending to the trilogy, I know how much emotion you poured into it. I can feel it. I'm sure the readers would too."

I sighed in relief as he said that. But when I looked at his face, I felt confused.

"Then, why do you look like that?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

He sighed and played with the pages of the draft before answering me, "You really won't give your readers a happy ending? After they've waited for so long?"

I looked down, not being able to think of the proper words to say to him.

"Look if this is about Sunghoo—"

"It's not about him!" I snapped, "Not everything I do is about him, Jay. The story was leading to a dreadful ending."

I saw Sunghoon's face flash in front of me, "The characters' story was bound to end this way. This is reality, Jay. Not everyone gets a happy ending."

You kept on squirming. You didn't like surprises, you said they scare you.

But Pearl, you gladly let me cover your eyes even though you were scared and I love you for that.

Although you gave me a hard time during the journey towards my surprise for you, I'm still really thankful because you let me.

"How much longer?"

I laughed as I heard impatience in your voice. I moved closer to you and whispered, "Don't worry, I got you."

I set you in your place and signaled our friends to flip the switch.

I untied the blindfold of your eyes and you quickly rubbed them as you adjust to the lighting that was set around the field.
