Remember Vacation Bible School?

~Time Skip~
-Jade's Room-
I was laying in Shaka's lap as Jade ranted.
Jade: "Oh, I can't believe how much smack M'Dear talked. She is so doggone cocky. The undefeated Bible-verse champ?"
Shaka: "Yeah. I still have dried-up whipped cream behind my ears."
He scratched behind his ear and licked his finger.
Y/n: "Nasty."
Jade: "Gross. I wish I had a photographic memory. I could learn the whole Bible tonight."
Shaka: "Well, I just downloaded a Bible-verse app on my phone to study so she won't embarrass me tomorrow. Revenge."
??: " 'Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord.' "
Mazzi came up the stairs.
Mazzi: "M'Dear says...'Come on down for dinner, losers.' "
Then he fake punches at us.
Jade: "Okay okay."
Mazzi: "And there you two go again!"
He rolls his eyes and leaves.
Jade: "Oh. We have to get her. I wish we could use your phone in class."
Y/n: "Maybe we can."
I say sitting up.
Jade: "How?"
Shaka: "Repeat what you hear."
He says handing her a headphone. Then he types something in on his phone. I stand up.
Jade: " 'For it is the vengeance of the Lord. Take vengeance upon her.'Oh my god. Are we doing this?"
Y/n: "Oh yeah, we're doing this."
Jade: "The undisputed Bible-verse champion of the world is going down."
Shaka clicks the knockout button on his phone. Then him and Jade fake fight and he jumps back on the bed.
~The Next Day~
-At Church-
Elvis: " 'Yea should do so in the land, whither yea goes to possess it.' Amen."
We all clap.
M'Dear: "No. You said 'yea' instead of 'ye.'"
Elvis: "Bug I was so close!"
M'Dear: "God is in the details."
Then she starts spraying Elvis.
Elvis: "Oh, I want that belt so bad!"
M'Dear: "But you can't beat me! I quote like a butterfly and recite like a bee."
Shaka: "Did Jesus really say that?"
M'Dear: "You know, I should spray you just for asking!"
She laughs and runs toward him, but she doesn't spray him.
M'Dear: "Okay, Jade, you want some of this?"
Jade: "I'm no match for the champ, but I'll do my best."
She looks at Shaka and I then she stands up.
She chooses a word out of the hat.
Jade: "Grace"
Shaka types it in.
Jade: "Um, okay."
She clears her throat.
Jade: " 'But to each one of us, grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.' "
Ava: "Yes! Go Jade. You got this."
M'Dear: "Oh. Okay, granddaughter. 'My grace is sufficient for you.' "
Jade chooses another word from the hat.
Jade: "Joy."
Shaka types it in.
Jade: " 'Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.' "
Ava: "Uh-oh, Sister Amelia. Your turn."
M'Dear: "I know it's my turn. 'Rejoice in the lord always. Again, I say rejoice!' "
~A Little Later~
M'Dear: " 'And the people piped with pipes and rejoiced with great joy.' "
Jade: " 'Rejoice in the Lord and be glad' "
Y/n: "Ooooh!"
Shaka: "Someone's feeling the heat!"
Kids: "Five, four, three, two—"
M'Dear: "The joy! Sit down! 'The joy— the joy I feel, the world didn't give it to me.' "
Elvis: "That's not a Bible verse! It's a Shirley Caesar song!"
M'Dear: "Elvis!"
He sat down with his hands up.
Y/n: "That means-"
Ava: "Ooh. She messed up! Y'all see that? She messed up!"
M'Dear: " All right, class dismissed!"
Jade: "No, you're not getting away that easy."
Kids: "Spray her! Spray her! Spray her!"
M'Dear: "No! I used to change your diapers!"
Jade: "And I thank you. But God is in the details."
M'Dear: "Oh!"
Jade starts spraying M'Dear with whipped cream. Jade stops and picks up the belt cheering with excitement. Ava gets up to help her put it on.
Shaka: "You wanna do the honors?"
Y/n: "I sure would."
I click the button.
??: "Knockout!"
~Time Skip~
Everyone had left except for us and Elvis now.
Shaka: "My post of M'Dear getting sprayed already has 150 hits."
We all laugh.
M'Dear: "You want me to make it 151?"
We all look at her.
M'Dear: "How on earth did you memorize all that overnight?"
Jade: "God blessed me with a photographic memory."
M'Dear: "Oh, well, I'm impressed. Tell you what. At Sunday service, each class is presenting what they've done this week. We should do this in front of the congregation."
I whisper to Shaka.
Y/n: "This isn't gonna turn out right."
Jade: "Any time, any verse."
He looks down.
Shaka: "You're right."
M'Dear: "Oh, and tell me what you're making for dinner tonight because I'm not cooking. I'll be busy training for my rematch. She leaves the room.
We all stand up and walk to each other. Shaka puts his arm over my shoulders.
Elvis: "Mmm-hmm! You make that belt look good."
She scoffs.
Jade: "Boy, bye."
Elvis: "Oh. You're not ready for all this yet? It's okay. I'm a patient man."
Jade takes the whipped cream and sprays it on him.
He wipes it off.
Elvis: "Girl, stop flirting with me."
We all look at each other as he leaves.
~Time Skip~
We were riding in the go karts again. Ami got her own pink one to ride in now. And she's winning!
Moz: "Go Ami! That's my baby girl!"
Mazzi: "I'm not letting you beat me!"
Moz: "Me either!"
Shaka: "You're not gonna win this, Dad."
Ami: "I'm crazy baby!"
Y/n: "I forgot we were racing!"
We were drifting until Mazzi drove straight into a tree. We all stopped moving.
Moz: "Is everybody okay?"
Shaka: "I'm good."
Y/n: "My ankle hurts. But not too much! I think..."
Mazzi: "I banged up my wrist."
Moz: "Rub some dirt on it."
Ami: "And my knee hurts a little."
Moz: "Save some dirt for your sister and Y/n. I trust you won't tell anyone about this, especially your mother."
Shaka: "Oh, no, we won't tell Mom."
Mazzi: "Yeah, we know how she gets."
Y/n: "I saw she had a suitcase full of first aid stuff."
Moz: "Exactly. If she finds out we crashed, we won't be able to ride anymore."
Ami: "We can keep a secret."
Y/n: "I'm not a snitch either."
I say struggling to stand up.
Shaka: "Yeah, we never told anyone about that time Mazzi put Mr. Bubbles in the Jacuzzi."
Moz: "What?"
Mazzi: "What?"
He point towards the sky and Moz looks. Mazzi takes off running.
Moz: "Take Y/n to your room and wrap up her ankle."
Shaka: "On it. Come on Y/n."
He lets me get on his back and we walk inside and to his room. He goes and gets some bandages and starts to wrap my ankle.
Y/n: "Thanks."
Shaka: " No problem."
Y/n: "I hope I don't get y'all in trouble..."
I say laying back on his bed.
Shaka: "Oh well. I just wanna make sure you're ok."
Y/n: "Aww, thanks Peanut."
He finishes and lay on top of me.
Shaka: "Now what do you wanna do?"
Jade: "Shaka! Y/n!"
She yells from her room.
Y/n: "There's our answer."
He helps me up.
Shaka: "Lets go."
