Hey, what's up? This is Vanitas. Ishiné insisted I include my side of the story in his journal, so...this is it. It looks like he's begun to take this in a more story-telling direction than an actual journal. Fat chance I'm gonna follow that lame-ass model. He's lucky I'm bothering to put my story in here at all! Anyway, where to start.
Turning back a page or two tells me that Ishiné left off right about where they picked me up. Figures. Oh, before I go any further, I guess I should explain why I was even in the castle basement in the first place. It's not the most interesting story, but hey, it's mine.
I am a manifestation of the Darkness within the heart of Ventus, one of the Keyblade Council members. Way back when Ventus was the apprentice of Master Xehanort, the Master tried to get him to use his Darkness in conjunction with his Light to forge the legendary X-Blade. When that didn't work, Xehanort resorted to separating Ventus' Light and Darkness, creating me, Vanitas. Ventus was left broken after the separation, and so Master Xehanort left him with his childhood friend and estranged comrade, Master Eraqus, so that his Light might grow stronger. Xehanort, in turn, trained me in the ways of Darkness in hopes that one day he would be able to force me to clash with Ventus, thus forging the X-Blade. His plan almost worked, if it weren't for Ventus' friends--his Light overpowered my Darkness, and the X-Blade shattered.
When Ventus' heart finally healed after the encounter, I was once again a part of him, locked away within his heart. Several years later, when Ventus was captured by Organization XIII-3, I was separated from him once again, turned into my own entity to be used by the Organization to battle against the new Keyblade Wielders. They left me in Radiant Garden before sicking the mobs of Darkness on the Meeting Ground. I assume they meant to force them here, knowing that Kaijai would be with them, and he would know the way.
Like I said, it's not really the most interesting story, but it's mine. Anyway, I guess I should write about what happened after the guys convinced me to join their side. We all met up with the rest of the young Keyblade Wielders and some of the locals of Radiant Garden to come up with a plan to rescue the Keyblade Council. We were all placed into teams of three and assigned to go out and search the worlds for the Organization. I got partnered with Ishiné and Kaijai, obviously, and we're just now arriving on our first world.
