When Aerin fluttered her eyes open, the first thing she saw was the white, sandy ground. It was spreading with the wind, and its pale color surrounding the soles of her blue trainers.

"Should I continue holding your hand, or... you'll continue until you rip my shirt?"

The ever-familiar voice with its oh-so-lovely flirty tone caught her off guard, immediately snapping her head up just to see the vampire grinning.

Her right hand was caged with his left one, while her left hand was tightly clutching his loose white shirt, like her life was depending on it.

Aerin took her hands away with a gasp, just to earn a laugh.

"Damn, you've gone bold, huh? My shirt's got more loose." Renjun said while fixing his shirt. "What do you say? Should I keep the upper loose to reveal more skin or roll it back?" he abruptly stopped when he felt the human's stare.

Aerin is mindlessly staring at him—the longest time, if the vampire would say. Her eyes just got lost as he met it. It was rather empty but soft enough that you could melt down.

Renjun swore that he could see small stars on those. But rather than getting more lost as he already was, he sported a cheeky grin.

"I'm too handsome, right?"

"Huh?" Aerin shifted uncomfortably, although it was a surprise that she didn't banter like she used to. "You're g-glowing," she murmured.

"I, what?"

"I said your figure looks bordered by a white light! It's autumn, but the sun's still up. Aren't you hurting?" she expanded the thought without meeting his eye.

"Oh," Renjun's grin went wider and bent down to peek on her face. "Are you blushing?"

"Blushing? Why would I!? Oh!?" she challenged, finally facing him.

The vampire just scrunched his nose. "So I'll pretend that you didn't gape at me." He lightly pinched her nose and chuckled, walking past her. "OH, THE COOL BREEZE!"

Aerin snapped back to reality with his booming voice, then turned to face him. Yet rather than watching what he would do, she finally noticed where they were.

The Winter Sea, as many people called it, There weren't many individuals present; in fact, she can't see one. Maybe because it was still mid-afternoon, but the sunlight isn't as heavy as the wind breeze.

It was beautiful, no doubt. The situation she was in awhile ago immediately slipped her mind.

"Satisfied?"

Aerin looked at him with a raised brow.

"It's not that I took you here to slack off at school. You were my free ticket to skip. If they'll see me with you, they won't put a red mark on my records."

Hearing that made the girl's excited smile drop, and her shoulders slumped as she ran her tongue inside her mouth.

She stomped in front of him and forcefully hit his chest, catching the vampire off guard.

"What the–!"

"Fuck. Yeah, what the fuck, Huang? What am I to you? A free thing for unlimited use!?"

"You can also take this as a free ticket to cool down and live! Come on, Aerin, you're always that girl by the rules."

"And it doesn't change the fact that you're using me! What do you want to do after this, huh? Why are you always pestering me with those date proposals when you don't even really like me? To use my power in school and my ability to run in authority, that's it!?"

"That's not—" Renjun groaned. "Why are you being so negative?"

"I don't know! My mouth keeps shooting like a machine gun, and it's for you to take the bullets whether it's true or false," she harshly exhaled, turning away, but of course the vampire just has to show up.

"We can just settle for..."

"Just look for another target to play, Renjun. Balancing my studies and the council is already a handful. I don't even know if I can get a free life. You live your own." She completely shut him down and walked past, but this time, there were no more interruptions.

Renjun shut his eyes tight for a moment, allowing the passing wind to at least calm his raging thoughts, but it never did.

"You reached the maximum."

The sound of the new voice immediately caused his eyes to shoot open, his head directing to the side. The sight of the only figure already crept him out. Eyes in red and void of any emotions, he stood firmly with his hands buried in his maroon suit jacket.

The black lining of his neck veins is clearly visible in his direction, as is the fresh string of blood on his lower lip. And Renjun knew this day wouldn't be happy.

"Taeyong-hyung..."

"That's Professor Lee for you," the hundred-year-old vampire showed up in front of him with a lopsided smile. "Minister Jung wants to see you."

"Oh," the 20-year-old vampire slowly nodded. "Now?"

"You knew damn well that he didn't want to keep waiting."
