Chapter 29

A week.

A week of being Hunter Adams girlfriend.

Only now did I realise we were basically a couple minus the title and the make out sessions.

We were taking things slow and I couldn't be more grateful that he understood I wasn't ready to take things any further yet.

I had just dropped my art assignment off with the teacher. I decided to draw the clearing - mine and Hunter's special place.

As I was walking along the corridor to leave school I saw Hunter standing by his locker, Rachel and her minions also hanging around there. I rolled my eyes, Hunter was furiously typing away on his phone ignoring their presence, did they not get the hint?

I felt my phone buzz in the back pocket of my jeans. I pulled it out and tried not to laugh when I read my message.

Hunter - Can you come and save me pls? I'm being stalked and if you don't get here this second I think they might use me as a human sacrifice. Or eat me. Whichever comes first.

I looked up and noticed he still hadn't noticed me standing at the other end of the hall.

Grace - poor baby. What a hard life it is having admirers.

Hunter - pretty sure they would take a hint and fuck off if my so called girlfriend ever appeared and saved my ass.

I laughed at that message and decided to help the poor guy out. He can't help it that he has good genes.

As soon as Hunter heard my trainers squeaking against the floor he looked over and smiled.

"Well you took your sweet ass time. And also, sweet ass." He gave me a wink and I think my stomach somersaulted so high it almost fell out of my mouth.

How is this beautiful human interested in me? What if he decides he can do better? I wouldn't blame him.

He soon settles my nagging questions and insecurities when he strides over to me, full of confidence and slings an arm over my shoulder.

"So what? Are you guys like, dating or something now?" Rachel asks her face screwed up in disgust.

"Omg, we so are." Hunter replies in an equally as annoying, high pitched, nasally tone before steering me out of the school.

Hunter asks me about my day on the way home but my nerves are bouncing all over the place.

He lays his hand on my thigh and gives it a gentle squeeze. He glances at me for a moment before concentrating on the road again. "You okay? You're in your head what's going on?"

I take a breath in an effort to calm my nerves, "I'm gonna tell everyone what happened."

Hunter's hand on my leg freezes before me swerves the car slightly and looks between me and the road a few times. "You mean about Peter?" He asks, spitting his name out like the very word is acid on his tongue.

I nod my head, "I've been speaking to Dr. B about this for a little while now, I need to get it off my chest and everyone is so confused over why I tried to..yano..off myself. I want to tell my side of the story now." I tried to sound strong but the truth is I was still unsure. I don't know what this is going to do to my family.

Hunter smiled, a genuine smile before giving me another light squeeze on my thigh. "I think you're fucking amazing, you know that?"

I return his smile, "I certainly don't feel amazing."

"Gracie the fact you're even considering telling them is amazing. If you can't, then you can't. I'm right by your side either way though baby."

His soft words of encouragement where all I needed to pull out my phone and open up the group text.

Grace - Is there anyway you could all be at Mom and Dads house tonight? Around 6? Really need to speak to everyone together - no partners either please. Just you guys.

Cole - I'll be there.

Parker - I swear to holy cow if Hunter's punk ass has knocked you up I will kill the sorry son of a bitch.

Mia - Imagine how cute the babies would be though. I do make a great Aunt too.

Grace - what is wrong with you? I'm not pregnant.

Joey - Do I need to buy you condoms and have the safe sex talk? Actually you and Hunter can babysit Cody on Saturday. He's teething and is enough birth control for even the broodiest of humans.

Parker - you would actually let those two look after Cody?

Mia - I can't believe Brooke let's Joey look after Cody. I think that in itself is a miracle.

Grace - Please for 2 minutes can you all be serious. Yes or no can you guys make it?

Parker - yep x

Mia - be there straight after work

Joey - Mom's watching Cody, I need to come pick him up anyway.

This was it. It was time I took back control of my life and told everyone the truth.
