Chapter 15 - Fire

It had been a few months and Ayla was trying to care and did try and work on her recovery. She appreciated everyone's support and motivation but at the end of the day when she was alone in bed all she felt was pain. She had found someone that was willing to draw him from just a description. She kept the painting by her bed and would talk to him. She would tell him about her day, how some days were harder than others. She was starting to walk a little on her own but that she was having an issue writing. It didn't matter since people only wanted her signature, she had started making appearances and the fans loved her.

It was hard to smile and give a off a positive attitude but she didn't want to disappoint anyone. This was her life and she didn't want to disappoint anyone. If she was being honest she really did enjoy the meet and greats. She loved seeing the excited faces of her fans. It reminded her of all the times she would try and catch a glimpse of favorite musicians. The one time she met an idol they barely looked at her and gave her a half smile then walked away.

So anytime a fan would ask for a hug she would put her whole love into it. She made a promise to herself that if she ever got famous she would make sure every single fan would never know that disappointment. So the only bright side right now were these moments. Every hug, every gift, every smile, just every thing brought her joy. Her absolute favorite fans were the kids but seeing them and hugging them broke her heart every time.

It reminded her of the last moments she had with Dabi. Aizawa said she was pregnant and that changed everything. She never even thought about children before but when she heard that her life flashed. She saw Dabi smiling holding their child. When their eyes met she felt all his love and knew he felt hers. Then the next second everything went black. Aizawa was pure evil, he killed her even after Dabi pledged his loyalty. He did it to save them and Aizawa still killed her.

The thought of it started to make her shake. Brooke noticed and announced the end of the meet and greet. They had already gone an hour past the scheduled time so it wasn't an issue. Of course the fans were a bit disappointed but they were grateful to be around her. As Ayla was gathering herself and getting ready to step away she felt the tiny hairs on the back of her neck raise. Someone was looking at her, she tried to glance around and look at a few people. None of them were making her feel watched.

She laughed at herself for panicking and turned to wave one last time. For a brief moment she saw a pair of blue eyes that she recognized. Then a few people jumped in front and blocked her view. Of course just like in the movies when she looked again they were gone. She didn't want to look suspicious but quickly looked around but whoever it was had left. There was no way she had imagined those eyes, it was Dabi. It had to be, even though it was a blink of a moment she connected with those eyes.

Brooke noticed that Ayla was smiling, really smiling for the first time. "Hey, so this time was different huh?"

"What do you mean?"

"I haven't seen you smile like that since ... it's nice to see you smile again."

"Oh, yeah. I guess it was nice today." She still wasn't sure if she wanted to tell Brooke about Dabi. She told her she felt like she was in a dream but never gave more details and Brooke never pushed.

Once they were in the car head back home Ayla could tell Brooke wanted to say something. "Ok Brooke, let me have it."

"What?"

"I know you and I can tell by the way you keep flexing your hand that you have something on your mind."

Brooke sighed and pulled out a journal, "I found this. Why are you hiding things from me? I thought you trusted me?"

Ayla grabbed the journal out of her hands, "Were you snooping through my things? How dare you!"

"No Ayla, you're not going to put this on me. You need to stop living this fantasy life. You need to focus on getting better so you can start going on tour. I don't know who this David is .."
