Reassurances

She reached into the burned ones mind trying to find answers.

Hatred came to her, an overwhelming need to destroy, and the images of death.

The monster lunged towards her, straining against the chains that held it captive and she fell back.

Strong arms wrapped around her holding her close to a warm body, taking her away from the beast. Her specialist's warm breath tickled her ear as he lowered his head.

"I thought I told you to be careful."

They walked towards the exit of the barn, her specialists hand on the small of her back.

"I thought I was, the burned one was meant to have been dosed with enough zanbaq to keep it unconscious. I don't know what happened."

Closing the barn door, the specialist wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close.

"Did you see anything?"

"No. I saw flashes but none of it made sense, I couldn't understand anything."

"It's ok, we'll find out more later."

"It's not ok! If it wasn't alone and there's more out there it could come after our students. None of them are prepared, they haven't ever faced any threat like this, they haven't been trained, they..."

"Farah..."

"They have no idea how to cope with a threat like this, they..."

"Farah!"

"What!?"

They stand watching each other, the headmistress breathing heavily, and the specialist observing her, waiting for her to calm down.

"Shit. I'm sorry Saul, I didn't mean to yell at you, it's just..."

She stops as hands cup her cheeks, and she sighs, leaning into them.

"It will be ok, I'll be right with you every step of the way."

"If the burned ones are truly back then she could be behind it."

Neither of them needed to read be able to read the others mind, they both knew who the mind fairy meant, and just the thought of her made them both shudder involuntarily.

"How Fa? You have her trapped and powerless under the school."

"She'll have her ways."

"Then we'll stop her. We've done it before and we'll do it again."

"Mm."

"We'll figure it out, or at least you will, you're the smarter one of us."

The specialist smiled as this brought forth a small laugh from his fairy's lips. Gently he placed his hand back on the small of her back and guided her in the direction of their school.
