Chapter 9: Dinner and you

Ang Mens Po Rhea Lumabas Kaso Lang Di Kita Diego..." I uttered

"ABO, MNSs, P, Rh...Lutheran, Kell...Lewis, Duffy, Kidd, Diego...."

When my phone alarmed, I removed my eyeglasses and placed them on the table. It's been 30 minutes since I started reviewing so I decided to take a 5 minute study break. Then I grabbed my tumbler to drink and hydrate myself.

Every Friday, wala kaming hospital duty pero may attendance ang seminar kaya kailangan pa rin pumasok. Half day lang naman kaya after that, Caya and I decided to study at the library.

We're just reviewing all our past lessons so it will remain longer in our memory. We still need to take the compre exam before we can graduate, so we review if we have spare time.

Mas naging focus na rin si Caya sa studies niya dahil mukhang heartbroken. Of course, I'm talking about South. Dati e puro si South ang bukambibig pero ngayon wala na.

"Bukas na lang daw tayo pupunta ng Tagaytay." I informed her. "May inaasikaso pa kasi sina Kuya."

"Okaaaaay," aniya

I sighed.

I stood up from where I was seated and transferred to the chair next to hers.

"What happened to you and that athlete guy?" she asked

I laughed. "It was nothing serious."

She rolled her eyes. "And so I've noticed."

I tried distracting myself by bringing up my old self. The Kianna who enjoys her freedom and entertains boys who got the looks.

But I failed.

'Di ko alam pero nako-konsensya ako kaya hindi rin natutuloy.

Ibinalik ko ang atensyon ko kay Caya. She really don't open up a lot kaya mahirap siyang i-figure out.

"Ikaw? How are you?"

She heaved a sigh before leaning down on the table. Her face, facing at my direction.

"Wala. Okay lang naman ako." she said and pouted. "Nanibago lang. First time ma-reject, e." Tumawa siya saka napaiwas ng tingin.

Baliw talaga ang babaeng 'to. Siya ba naman nanligaw kay South. Napailing na lang ako.

Natahimik kami at hindi sadyang sabay na napabuntong hininga kaya gulat kaming napatingin sa isa't-isa. Ilang segundo lang ay malakas kaming napatawa. Natigil lamang ng patunugin ng librarian ang bell, telling us to keep quiet. Muntik na namin makalimutan na nasa library kami.

It was almost 6pm when I decided to go home. Nauna kasi si Caya dahil umuwi ang parents niya. Bihira lang ang mga 'yon umuwi kaya sinusulit ni Caya ang time na umuuwi sila.

I was walking towards the parking area when I saw a familiar figure. He was leaning in his car. When I looked closer, I stopped midway after seeing Kier.

Mukhang malalim ang iniisip niya kaya hindi niya ako napansin. I want to walk away without talking to him but a part of me missed him. Its been a week since the last time I saw him. So I followed my stupid heart.

Nang makalapit ako sa kanya ay tumikhim ako. Doon lang siya napaangat ng tingin. Gulat ang mga matang napatingin siya sa akin.

He opened his mouth to say something but decided not to do so and just silently stared at me. I gave him a small smile.

"Hi." I greeted

Ilang segundo pa siya walang imik bago nagsalita. "I'm sorry,"

That was the first two words he said. Mas lalo tuloy akong na-guilty. Talagang na-badtrip ako sa nangyari nakaraan pero alam ko rin na may kasalanan ako.
