As Regius exited the car, two of his security detail stood beside him.
The white building was tall. When Jeston said it was owned by his aunt, the man thought she was starting from humble beginnings, but this was far from that.
Elite was well established as far as Regius could see. By the permanent scowl on his father's face, he knew the man was not happy about this.
He looked at his grandfather and the man only shrugged in response. The two main men in his life weren't happy about this, why was he even still considering doing it?
Before he could turn around and change his mind, he heard his name.
"Mr. Mills."
She was a dark chocolate beauty with hazel eyes and a head full of curls. Her smile showcased pearly white teeth and her figure was that of a model. Telling from the black heels and dress that she wore, Regius could tell that Elite meant business.
She held her hand out to him.
"I'm Melissa, I'm from Elite's administrative department and I'll be your guide for your time here."
Regius shook her hand.
"Well you already know I'm Regius, this is my father Reggie, my grandfather Leslie and my security detail Marc and Isaac."
Melissa shook each one of their hands.
"Before we begin our tour of Elite, can I interest you men in anything? Water, juice, coffee, tea or even something to eat?"
Everyone shook their heads as Melissa clasped her hands. As she began to walk, Regius eyed the way her lower half moved in that dress as his father placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Say the word and we'd have an NDA in front of her in a second."
Regius shook his head. Regius had promised Jeston no funny business, especially because his little sister worked here and it was his aunt's place.
Even though, Regius anticipated meeting the woman, if he got the chance to, considering the size of this building.
Jeston didn't talk much about his family especially since he'd spoken about some trauma that almost broke his family.
But Jeston also admitted that it saved his family. His parents had never been closer and his little sister pursued her passions furiously. He did mention that Mya Santiago took her career and privacy very seriously.
Only to tell Regius after to not fool around with her.
Which was how Regius even decided to google the family. He'd always known who Carlos Santiago and Jeston Santiago were. He didn't care to know who he'd married or his kids besides Jeston. But the woman on his side and the daughter Jeston didn't want him to fool around with could make any man's jaw drop.
Melissa guided them to the elevator as the doors opened and they entered.
"Elite is a POC (people of color) owned magazine. I wanted to say black owned but it would be unfair to all our mixed race employees and our founder is half Hispanic."
The men nodded in understanding as the elevator doors opened and their eyes widened.
If Regius thought the lobby was extravagant, he'd been wrong. There was a brown accent wall at the center of the floor with the wording Administration in an italic chrome color. The accent wall had quotes on good behavior and radiating positivity in black as women and men walked in and out of different offices.
"This is our administrative floor. Each office is tailored to suit the personality of the man or woman behind the desk. Which is mainly what Elite is about, inclusivity and engagement. We engage with our audiences, we make our staff feel at home and we leave no topic untouched as we aim to make our magazine the most diverse in Los Angeles."
