Mya opened her eyes to bright white lights.
A yawn escaped her lips as a man stood over her. A bright light shining in her eyes.
"Can you stop?"
Mya questioned as she blinked repeatedly.
"M'am some passersby found you collapsed at the side of the road. Are you okay? Any head injuries?"
Mya's eyebrows arched.
"You're the doctor shouldn't I be asking you that?"
The man chuckled.
"You should, but we ran a few tests and nothing indicates why you might have fainted. Not even dehydration."
Mya passed her hand over her face, the memories hit her one by one from that night.
She knew the truth now. As much as she tried to deny it.
"So do you have any issues with your head?"
Mya shook her head.
"Do you know your name?"
"Mya Santiago."
"Age?"
"Twenty seven."
"Boyfriend's name?"
"Regius Mills."
"How many fingers am I holding up?"
"Two."
The man smiled.
"Your boyfriend is outside waiting to see you."
The doctor exited through the door as Regius and Briana rushed in.
His arms wrapped around hers and Mya felt as if she was hugging him for the first time.
Tears ran down her cheeks as he kissed her. She kissed him back fervently like she'd never kissed him before.
Because the truth was she'd never kissed him before knowing that he was Kharyi.
She'd never hugged him before as Kharyi.
"Mya you scared the shit out of me. What happened?"
The worry in his eyes made her smile.
"I needed some air, I felt light headed and the next thing I know I'm waking up here."
He passed his hand over his face.
"I should have never taken my eyes off of you. I'm sorry."
Her palm found his cheek.
"It's not your fault, I should have mentioned to you that I was unwell."
Briana cleared her throat behind them.
"Probably should have before I alerted everyone."
Mya's eyes widened.
Her parents were going to rush her in a panicked state.
"Bri? Why?"
"We couldn't find you. You weren't where you said you would be. The last time..."
"I know."
Mya cut her cousin off, she didn't want to talk about the fire. She was still trying to process all that she'd remembered.
She stared at Regius and she had to bite back her tears.
Reggie had taken him. He'd taken him and left Mya in that room unconscious.
Had it not been for her father, she could have died.
How did she tell the man this? That the man he loved the most in the world kidnapped him.
