A week after the traumatic training exercise, and three days after Nick found out, that he was an alien known as a New God, which he told Phoenix sounded cool, Nick was back at the Cave.

Ever since Nick discovered that he had new powers, he had doing training sessions in the House, in order to learn how to use them. He also used his telepathy to talk to Phoenix, which they both enjoyed, because it gave Nick the chance to learn about his species. He had found out that Phoenix was around 300 years old, which amazed Nick.

Nick had also talked to Ted, Wesley, Alan, Jay and Joan, who told him that they were sorry for lying to him for the last 14 years. Nick had forgiven them, telling them that he understood that they were trying to protect him.

Nick also told them about how he was planning to share his immortality with Zatanna. They had all been surprised at first, but then they all were happy for him, glad that he loved Zatanna so much, that he was willing to share his immortality with her.

Nick was currently in the Cave's therapy room, which had a waterfall, he was talking to his cousin, Black Canary. The reason why, was because he had found out that the League was making the Team do counselling with Canary because, the League wanted to give the Team a way to talk about what happened in the training exercise.

Nick looked at his cousin. He saw that she was wearing a bandage around her hand, which she had burned when she touched his body, which had been hot enough to show smoke, while it had been glowing bright orange.

Canary looked at Nick, who sat in the chair opposite her. "First of all, are you ok?" She asked.

Nick nodded. "Yeah, Orchid and Asa were able to help me with the phoenix spirit." He assured. "M'gann did not know that she was in control. I don't blame her for what happened." He stated.

"I am also glad that we are reconnected Nick. I also agree with you, that M'gann is not to blame." Phoenix said, making Nick smile, happy that Phoenix agreed with him about his Martian adopted sister.

Canary nodded. "Good." She said, seeing Nick's smile. "Let's talk about the exercise from your point of view. I can only imagine how devastating it was. Losing your friends, in essence, your family, convinced all the time it was completely real. I'm sure it must have been horrible for you." She said.

Nick nodded. "It was. I felt so helpless, being unable to save them, despite the fact my magic had been weakened. When I felt each of them die, deep down I blamed myself, because I should have been able to save them." Nick told her.

Canary leaned forward. "Nick. You can't blame yourself." She stated.

Nick shook his head. "But, it is my fault. Wally was right. I mean, I am an immortal magic user. I should have saved them all, starting with Arty." He stated.

Canary looked at her cousin sadly. "Nick. You may be immortal, but that does not mean that you need to have such a big weight on your shoulders. I mean, and forgive me for saying this, you have lost people before. Do you blame yourself for the deaths of the people you have lost?" She asked.

Nick shook his head. "No." He said quickly. But, he was lying, which Phoenix sensed through their link.

"So, if you don't blame yourself for those deaths, you shouldn't blame yourself for the deaths of your teammates in the training exercise." Canary stated.

Nick pondered this, then sighed. "You are right, Dinah." He said, using Canary's real name like they agreed.

"Nick, she is right. You can't blame yourself for deaths that you could not stop." Phoenix said. Nick nodded, agreeing with both Canary and Phoenix. But, he was still unsure of that fact.
