“Tell me something about yourself.” Tanae says as she brushes my stomach swiftly with her thumb, laying on my chest.“Something like what?” I ask.
“Something I don't know.” she smiles. I smirk, “Well you don't even know when my birthday is b.”
“Okay tell me your birthday then River.” she looks at me like I'm the hardest person to deal with.
“February the tenth.” I say.
“No joke! That's like in a week or two...wait what's today's date?” she starts zoning out and counting with her fingers. I smile because she's so adorable.
“River that's in like- 9 days. Thanks for the short notice.” she sulks.
I laugh at her. “You don't have to buy me anything, birthdays suck anyway.”
“You're turning eighteen?” she stares at me.
“No. Seventeen.”
“So you're sixteen right now? Why did you always say you're seventeen? You liar.” she hits my arm.
“Dont you want something to eat. My treat?” she nods and we both get up from the bed. I put on my shoes and tie my hair up, while Tanae freshens up.
We walk to the lounge and my mom wasn't there, so I assume maybe she went out. We leave the house and take her car, but I drive. I got my learner's a few months ago.
“So where are we going?” Tanae asks.
“Just sit back and relax.” I reply and I can hear her sighing. She probably doesn't do well with suspense.
I drive till we get to Rush park, which is in the middle of the city. Rush park is a place with many different things to do. It's a chill spot, there's a skate spot, there's a lake, book shop, food stalls and also a game booth.
“What is this?” Tanae says with an overexcited whisper. “You've never been to Rush park?” I raise my eyebrows at her.
“Nope. I didn't even know about this place.” she shakes her head.
I grin. “Well then I guess it's up to me to make your first time special. Come on let's go.”
We walk out of the car. We walk slowly past the skate spot to watch people skating.
“River! Hey!” someone calls out my name.
“Kylie, hi.” we hug each other. Kylie is a very good friend of mine that I met here at Rush park. We don't meet very frequently but everytime I'm here we hang out because we both love coming here.
“Who's this cutie?” Kylie says, smiling.
“This is Tanae, Tanae this is my dear friend Kylie who thinks everyone is cute.” I introduce them.
“She's right though, I am cute.” Tanae smirks.
Kylie and I give each other the ‘ohhhh shit’ look, like Tanae had just dissed someone.
”Oh yeah, I like her.” Kylie says to me.
“Hands off though.” I say to her.
She laughs. “Yeah alright. I gotta go, catch you bro. See you later Tanae.”
“Bye.” Tanae says to her and she walks away. “I like this place already. It's just so many chilled vibes.” she smiles at me as we continue walking.
I hold her hand in mine and we walk to the food stalls and order some wraps. We spent the rest of the day playing games and acting like idiots near the lake. We also went to my favourite book store, the one here in Rush park, but we didn't get any books.
We walk to the car and she drives me back home. We say our goodbyes and I walk inside the house. Just then I'm met with my biggest nightmare.
[This is the end of the chapter]
[Joking carry on]“Great, River, you're here. Come meet Samantha.” my mom says and gives me the biggest smile ever. My legs feel numb but I take baby steps to the couch where they are seated.
“So, this is Samantha, she's an interior designer and she'll be helping us with renovations!” my says a bit too over excited.
“Renovations?” I repeat, my eyes fixated on my feet. I couldn't be more anxious.
“Yes, River. Now don't be rude, say hi to Samantha.” my mom nudges my arm a little but it annoys me.
“Hi.” I look at Sammie but quickly take my eyes away. I scratch the back of my head, this is so awkward.
“Hello River.” she smiles at me like she knows me. Well she does know me.
“Ma, I'm very specific with what I want done in my room so please don't mess it up.” I say to my mom. I've always wanted to do some changes to my room, but my mom wouldn't get it.
“Oh? Well why don't you show Samantha to your room and tell her exactly what you want?” my mom says and nudges me again.
I give her a death glare. “Actually I was about to...”
“Oh no. You're not leaving before you tell Sam everything you want done to your room, because I have to buy the material tomorrow.” my mom interrupts me.
“Where'd you get money from?” I ask her.
“Don't try to distract me. Now go, show Samantha your room.” my mom pushes me towards the passage. I swear to god if she touches me again I'm going to slap her.
I walk to my room with my hands in pocket and Sammie following behind me. I've never been so nervous about the sound of heels behind me.
I don't get why my mom couldn't find anyone else to do renovations or whatever.
We walk into my room and I close the door. “What the hell?” I ask her.
“Watch your tongue ma'am, and besides how could I have known that she's your mom?” she's so calm about the situation it's driving me insane.
I take a deep breath. “I'm sorry.”
Sammie takes my hands in hers. “I get it you're frustrated about a lot of things right now, but you literally have nothing to worry about. Honestly.”
I nod. She moves closer and closer to me and closes the few inches that were between us.
I eye her up and down to try and figure out her motives, but her eyes contain so much mystery I wouldn't know what she's about.
She leans in and kisses me in such a fast pace I almost didn't catch it.
I pull back. “No wait...what're- just- not here?” I don't know what I'm so nervous about.
She stares at me and smiles. I bite my lower lip. Dammit. I don't like how she makes me so weak.
“So should I leave?” she's so close to me it makes my body shiver. “No.” I say as clearly as I can. Of course I don't want her to leave.
“So shut up and kiss me.” she whispers on my collarbone, and starts kissing me again. She pulls me by my shirt and walks backwards till we get to my bed.
She falls back and gently pulls me with her. My hands start wondering around her body and she takes off my shirt.
She flips us over so she's now on top of me. She kisses my neck and starts straddling on my hips. “Fuck...” I whisper.
I guess I can't resist her?
