The sound of the rain tapping against the window was deafening to her. She sat on one of the hard wooden stools with her pen hung between her lips as she stared out the window, not caring to pay attention to the teacher at the front of the class. She concentrated on the window and how the rain had almost a life of its own as it traveled down the glass taking on all kinds of directions.

Faintly in the background she could hear the sound of other students laughing and talking amongst themselves, making it painfully obvious that she was in fact alone. While being on her own was not a new thing to her it still hurt to know that she was on her own with nobody there for her, nobody to meet up with in the mornings to discuss whatever tedious drama had happened the weekend before or to share in her upset when the boy she liked said he liked her friend instead.

She looked down to her notebook and began to write down a few words before the bell sounded for the day, thankful she was able to leave and go home where she could continue to be alone but in the confides of her home. She gathered her pens and pencils and placed them into her pencil case before closing her work book and placing them into her backpack, scraping the stool across the floor as she rose to her feet, slinging the backpack over her shoulder and joining the heard of people out of the building.

She was a very quiet girl, but when you don't have any friends it isn't hard to be quiet or at least for people to think and truly believe that you are in fact quiet. Her grip tightened around the strap of her bag as she walked along the path and out of the school gates, trying as quickly as she could to make it to the school bus so she could get home.

As she was heading down the pavement she collided with something hard causing her to tumble backwards and fall to the ground with some resistance from her backpack as it crunched underneath her weight. Her eyes shot up as she was met by a pair of brown hard eyes, no sympathy in them for being so careless. "Watch where you are going you fucking stupid little girl" while the words were definitely not the worst she had ever encountered before they stung just as much, her eyes growing wet with unshed tears.

She hurried to pick herself up off the floor as other school peers stood around her and the boy who had knocked her down, the boys name being Greg Michaels. "Please just leave me alone, I don't want any trouble" she just about stumbled the words out as she brushed dirt and small stones from her school trousers, not able to look Greg in the eyes but instead looking down the her hands which were bloody from her palms hitting the stones on the ground upon impact.

Greg raised his eyebrows at her clearly liking the fact that she had talked back to him and the fact that he could let off some steam and have a go at breaking down the small and frail girl in front of him. "What was that? You're nothing but a small tiny little.. little.." he struggled to find the right word to describe her before it clicked "rag doll.. you are a tiny pathetic doll who would break in two and get thrown away" his friends snickered behind him which helped to inflate his ever growing ego as he kept up his taunting, enjoying the satisfaction of how she was feeling.

"Do you know what dolls are good for? They are only good for people to play with and to use when they are bored and when a newer and prettier doll comes along the old pathetic doll gets thrown out. They become chew toys for dogs or get left abandoned in charity shops and never ever see the light of day again.

All you will ever be is something for people to use until something better comes along or if they simply get bored and toss you aside" his words stung. He compared her to a doll and told her that the only thing she is good for is to be used for other people's pleasure and then becomes worthless.

She dared to say anything so instead she kept her head hung low, wanting desperately to make a beeline for the bus so she could get home. "Are you not going to speak doll?" Again he was met with her silence and a few giggles and snickers from the crowd that had gathered.

"I asked you a question you retarded fucking shit, do as your told and answer me" he placed a strong hand around the strap of her bag and pulled her towards him, the movement causing her to stumble in the process. He was holding her by her wrist as he continued to push her around until a loud voice came from behind her.

"Greg I swear to god if you don't let her go I'm going to stick my foot so far up your arse I'm going to need you to buy me a new shoe" the voice screamed as the person ran over to where she and Greg were standing. Greg released his grip on her and took a step away from her small frame, clearly taken aback by the stranger standing up to him. "That's right you little ginger bitch go run home to your mother you pathetic weasel and take your damsels with you" the stranger pointed at Greg's entourage, the colour draining from Greg's face as he turned with lightening speed on his heels and with a quick pace moved off into the other direction.

The stranger came to stand face to face in front of her and extended a hand. "He's a jerk, does he do this everyday to you?" They asked as she looked up at the stranger "he does. But so does everybody else in one form or another" a weak smile spread on her face as she shifted awkwardly on her feet "thank you.. for what you said to Greg.. I don't have many or any friends so thank you for standing up for me" the stranger smiled at her and looked around to see other peers staring at the exchange "well I am going to fix that."

Her eyes shot up to meet the eyes of the person in front of her in bewilderment "if you do become friends with me you won't have a social life and you will become just like me.. a total outcast" the stranger simply smiled and extended her hand "I'm Rebecca but you can call me Becca" she shook Becca's hand and allowed a smile to form on her lips. "It's nice to meet you Becca, I'm Giannina Kate but you can call me Gia"

Becca smiled at Gia and took out some paper and a pen that was sticking out from one of the pockets of Gia's backpack. She made a few scribbles before bidding Gia farewell and heading across the road into the opposite direction of where Gia was intending to go. She smiled at the fact she had finally made a new friend before making her way towards the bus which thankfully hadn't left yet.

She smiled at the driver and showed him her bus card before taking a seat towards the front of the bus. Gia set her backpack down onto the chair next to hers and leaned her head against the window, thankful that the rain had calmed down. Gia let her eyes close briefly before she remembered that Becca had wrote something down for her.

The paper had an address marked down along with a mobile number and what Gia liked as a personal touch was Becca's full name at the bottom of the note so Gia knew exactly who it was from.. the signature read:

-Rebecca "Becca" Barnes :)
