Chapter seventeen

Xerxes pov

I wake up at nine in the morning to find Hiraeth still sleeping by my side. Everyday I see her, it gets harder and harder to hide my feelings for her. Her bravery, her intelligence, her class and yet her humbleness and kindness. I refused her before because I knew it would bring problems but we ended up having problems anyways. So the question is, what did I gain out of refusing her love? I look back at her to see that she actually woke up. I smile and caress her cheek as I whisper
"Good morning"
She smiles revealing her beautiful smile as she says
"Good morning! How did you sleep?"
I smile and say
"Well thank you. Come, let's get ready. Wear some sporting attire, we will probably be active today"
She looks at me in a confused manner and says
"But Xerxes, we didn't bring any clothes"
I swabs my hand around and whisper
"Cuarte"
Two pairs of clothes land on the bed, a pair for me and a pair for Hiraeth. She smiles and says
"That's amazing, truly"
I nod and say
"I'll go get ready"
I go in the bathroom and see that there is actually no shower hose but instead a small pipe and a bucket with soap in it. I do with what I am given and once I am finished, get out of the shower and see Hiraeth waiting for me to get out. She gets up and goes to shower herself. I put on my clothes on and after 20 minutes, Hiraeth gets out and takes her robe off in front of me. My breath thickens as I inspect her body. Her plump breast, her lean body but one that doesn't lack curves. Oh those curves! Her waist, perfect. Her ass, plump. Before I even realize it, I feel a tingle on my groin and cover it with my hands. Hiraeth finishes getting dressed and turns around to see me in clear discomfort. She looks at me and says
"Xerxes....are you alright?"
A moan escapes my lips and I sigh while saying
"Oh Hiraeth, you seductress. Why do you do this to me?"
She looks at me even more confused and I go to the bathroom to relieve myself. Why would she do this to me? Does she take pleasure out of torturing me? Oh she is an evil woman, a seductress, an enchantress. Once I relieve myself, I get out of the bathroom and look at Hiraeth who seems quiet confused at my behaviour. I say
"I apologize for my behaviour Hiraeth. Can you forgive me?"
She nods and smiles
"Of course, I was just worried, that's all"
I nod and all of the sudden, my phone rings. I pick up the phone and say
"Hello"
"Xerxes it's me"
I look at Hiraeth as I say
"David? What's up?"
I put the phone on speaker and sit next to Hiraeth. David continues
"He knows you guys went to Greece, he sent an assassin to kill you, she probably arrived there already."
Hiraeth says
"Hi David"
David says happily
"Hello Hiraeth! How are you?"
Hiraeth smile and says
"Well thank you. The thing is, we aren't in Greece."
David says confused
"How? What do you mean?"
I say
"We had quite a turn of events and met a new ally."
David says
"Xerxes, I'm coming to Portugal. We need to focus on your powers and I studied Hiraeth for years, I can help."
I'm actually quite happy he is headed over here, we need the more help we can get. I say
"No problem David, I would send you the address but it's in a village so we'll just pick you up"
David says
"That's good, your not only in Portugal but in a isolated village, it will make it harder to track you."
I nod and say
"Yes. It's very practical. Hey we have to do training but once you know there is three hours left till you arrive in Portugal, call me"
David agrees and the hangs up the phone. I tell Hiraeth
"Ok we need to go now, they are probably waiting for us"
She nods and we get out the door. We walk to the Center of the village to see that everyone is there. Miza walks up to Hiraeth and says
"Good morning, Hiraeth, Xerxes."
I gives her a smile and says
"Good morning"
Noal comes next to his wife and says
"The Whole village was waiting for you. The Elders must see if you are truly connected"
I look at him confused and ask
"Why do they wanna see if we are connected?"
He says
"All seven pairs will have a special bond, it is written. If you are truly The Conquerors then we will know"
We both nod and I look at Hiraeth and say
"You ready?"
She nods but I can see the fear on her face. She has no need to be afraid, she only has to show her true, glorious self. We up in front of the crowd and look at the five elders of this village whom are all sitting on wooden chairs in front of us. The elder sitting at the middle of the four other elders says
"Greetings, I am Imu. I am one of the elders of this tribe. We heard from not only Noal and his wife but also elder Mi'lano that you both have abilities and that you fit the description of an ancient prophecy. The prophecy of The Conquerers. Today we want you to prove your power to us."
I look at the elder and say
"How do you want us to prove it?"
The elder smiles and says
"By your connection, I want you to project the connection you feel inside you outwards for all to see."
I finally start to understand. That electricity, that tingling I feel every time I touch her, that's our connection. I look at the elder and say
"I understand"
He nods and Hiraeth whispers in my ear
"I don't"
I smirk and whisper to her
"You know that tingling, that electricity we both feel every time we touch each other? That's our connection. We need to project that"
She looks at me and says
"Oooohhhh that makes sense actually"
I put both my hands out and Hiraeth holds them as I pull her closer to me. The ladies in the village all cheer us on and Hiraeth rolls her eyes as I laugh a bit. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. Her feet start to transform into wind and specs of earth within it, that happens until eventually her whole body transforms that way, making herself one with the wind and the earth. It's like her body transformed into the wind with rocks and sand inside it and she just blows all around me, waiting for me to transform. I reach deep within myself, almost as if I am trying to pull the very core of my power outside the chains of my skin and bones until I look down and see that my feet have also started to disappear into a beaming of red light that somewhat had a darkness to it. That light eventually consumes me until I become a sort of fire and only a fire. I still have my senses and I start to hear
God this is terrifying! How will I change back?!
I look at Hiraeth, who is still in her wind and earth form as I say
Hiraeth?
She gasps and says
How can you hear my thoughts?
I think for a moment on how until I finally say
We must of finally fully unlocked are connection.
I can hear her laughing mentally and I smirk I return. I tell her
We should go back to our natural form
She obeys and immediately turns back into her human form again, and I do the same.
