As he processes the name on the slip of paper, and thinking it can't get any worse, his head slowly moves up as the Headmaster speaks in a tone of disbelief.
"Y-Y/N Mavros."
The hall gets so quiet that Y/N swears he can hear the blood slouching and running through his veins, his very soul vibrating from the proclamation.
He doesn't even register how loud his heartbeat is now thumping in his chest, or how his breath stopped midstride, or the fact that everyone now has their eyes on him.
A few students stand to their feet to get a better look at the newly named champion, who hasn't moved an atom-width from his seated position.
Cho starts to nervously chip at her nails, her frame slightly shaking, holding her back from standing to get a look at her friend like some others are.
Y/N wants to laugh it off, wants to pinch himself from this dream, he even wants someone to pop out of the corner and say, "It's just a prank, bro!"
But nothing of the sort comes as Y/N sees McGonagall stand to her feet and scurry over to Dumbledore, whispering in his ear as he starts to frown.
Hagrid is absolutely heartbroken, shaking his large head in disbelief at the prospect of Y/N participating in such a dangerous event while he murmurs under his breath. "No...no, no, no...I won't believe it..."
Remembering that he has friends around him, Y/N moves for the first time and turns to see everyone at the Gryffindor table staring at him.
