Diluc carried me in his arms all the way to the winery, I had wrapped my hands the best I could around his neck, holding on to him tightly so that I didn't fall but also just because I wanted to.

The night was quiet as we ventured on, the stars and the gods looking down on us and there was nothing to break the peaceful mood, except for the fact my house was burt down and my lungs were filled with smoke...

Diluc's grip on me tightened as we got nearer to our destination. Every so often he would glance down at me making sure I was okay. I would do my best to return a soft smile.

Even though I knew he wasn't feeling the same things I was, I didn't mind, just happy to be alive, happy to have someone close to me. He didn't seem too annoyed by the situation, his usual stern look had relaxed into a calming one, it was quite endearing to look at, I wonder how many people saw this diluc.

When we reached the door a maid let us in, Diluc thanked her and spoke with her for a moment, explaining what happened and then took me through to the guest bedroom which was located next to his.

The room was relaxing, the walls painted in a rose shade and an open fireplace sat across from the door. The man must have realised he was still carrying me then quickly dropped me on the floor, looking away awkwardly.

"You can sleep here for now." Was the last thing he said before closing the door behind him.

Waking up, my head thumping slightly, I tried to get my bearings. It was still night, and I was still in Master Diluc's guest bedroom. There was a cold breeze filling the room causing me to shudder under the covers.

I wished I was back at home with kaneki, who before Diluc set off had arranged for one of my neighbours to look after him. I hope he will be okay, he was a very shy cat after all.

I stared at the ceiling for what felt like an hour, until everything hit me again. And I just sobbed into my pillow. Tears slowly turned to anger, then back to tears. I shuffled around in the bed, not realising how much noise I was making.

There was a soft knock on the door, and it slowly creaked open, a shadowy figure peered in.

"Y/n? Are you okay? I heard you crying. Can I get you something?" The melodic voice of Diluc said, his voice strained and tied like he had just woken up. I just cried more, I was so tired i didn't even care how embarrasing I looked, with my head buried into a pillow.

My heart dropped when I felt the covers lift up and the other man climb inside. He was looking at me softly, reaching a hand to move the hair off my face, his wrist resting on my cheek as he did. We didn't say anything, not with words at least, just looked at eachother untill he reluctantly reached out and pulled me into his chest.

This was so out of character for the Diluc I had heard about. But then again my house did just burn to the ground, Its not like he cloud just leave me to cry. Right? Besides, lack of sleep makes people do strange things...

My heart fluttered at the contact, feeling his chest against mine while I pushed my head into his shoulder and weaped. My eyes getting heavy with sleep.

"I promise y/n, you'll be okay."

When I woke up at the normal human time, Diluc was still here, my head was resting on his chest as it rose with each breath he took. His hand sat loosely on my head and the other dropped to the floor. He was fast asleep.  Looking more relaxed than I had ever seen him. His mouth was parted slightly and his eyebrows were relaxed for once. I couldn't help but think to myself that he looked beautiful.
