(Okay were back, this chapter might be a little short all over the place just bear with me.)

Well, that was interesting the taste of his soft lips lingered on mine for a moment while I watched him disappear into the night. Venti's singing still echoed from inside and I slid my body down the side of the wall into the grass.

'Its okay y/n, everything is going to be okay, its just a kiss.'

Running my hands through my hair I sighed. I wonder if its okay for me to sleep at the winery. Diluc and I had made an agreement that I could stay there until I got back on my feet but after the dance and the kiss? It would have been fine if he hadn't run off. But now there's going to be so much awkward tension between us. I don't even know what to say to him. After all, the kiss probably didn't mean anything, we were both just in the moment feeling the celebration highs. It didnt have to mean anything.

But oh boy did I want it to. At least a part of me did. I don't know, every time I'm around him I feel like my life has a little bit more meaning. Plus, I had kissed people before, but never had it felt like that, it was like something out of story books. For the first time in my life, I had actually felt something. Maybe it was just the alcohol.

I decided to stay at the Winery. What could be so bad about it, besides id have to face him sooner or later. When I reached the front door, I was greeted by Ernest who beamed down at me like he always did.

"Good evening miss Y/N, did you have a good time at the ball?" He smiled, reaching a handout to take my coat.

"It was lovely sir, thank you. Have you seen Master Diluc?" I figured sooner would be better than later to talk to him. I had to know if it meant anything.

"He came home 15 minutes ago Miss, then left very quickly, he said he had business to attend to out of the region. You're welcome to stay here though y/n."

Business my ass. So, is that his solution then? Running away to the other regions instead of facing his problems head on? I mean, if Im being honest, I would probably do the same, but considering he owns the home Im staying in, its probably best I at least pretend to be confident.

Ill just get some sleep, Ill speak to him tomorrow.

*******

Six days later there was still no sign of Diluc, I spent my time pottering around the vineyards and doing my best to help the workers. I wasnt so much angry at him anymore for leaving, with each day I would just get more worried, I hoped something hasnt happened to him, if it had, I would have been to blame, he wouldnt have run off and got injured if it werent for me.

It was a quiet evening, me and the butler were playing a rather intense game of chess, I was somehow in the lead, though I am not convinced that he wasnt just letting me win I moved my queen to check his king to the point that we had arrived between a solid checkmate between my queen and bishop.

"Well done miss y/n! You know, Id think youd even give the master a run for his money at this – uh – dont tell him I said that though." My opponent laughed, sending a warm smile across my face.

We organised our pieces back into place, I noticed that there was a lot of noise coming from outside and very quickly all the maids had rushed to the front door.

"Master Diluc welcome home!"

"Did you have a nice trip master Diluc?"

"I shall make you some tea Master."

I watched as he greeted all of his workers with a small smile and several handshakes. All of a sudden, I felt very flustered. I had no idea what I was going to stay to him. I really wish a Whopper flower would just set me on fire right about now. I had six days to plan for this and had completely nothing. So, I just slid down into my chair and stared at the chess board. Hoping he would not see me. To late he was walking over.

"Ahh master, welcome home. Ive just been obliterated by y/n here at chess." The butler said to the tall man stood next to us. Maybe its weird if I dont look at him. I should look at him. No that was a mistake.

He had his hair tied into a high ponytail and red strands fell out at the sides.

"Ahh well, anyone could beat you sir." Diluc laughed. Shaking the shoulders of the man in front of me.

"Would you mind giving Y/N and I a moment alone sir?" Diluc asked politely, he clearly respected his staff very much. But after processing what he just said, I just wanted to disintegrate into a pile of ashes.

The butler bowed and left us be, Diluc took his place on the chair opposite me. And moved one of the chess pieces across the board. I guess we were playing chess.

I followed him and moved a piece as well, realising none of us had said anything yet, I tried to break the silence, "So uh, good business trip sir?" I smiled, doing my best not to show him how nervous I was.

He examined the board for a moment studying his next move while I awaited a response.

"I have no need for idle chit chat Y/n. Now, you owe me a favour do you not?" he asked, swiftly stealing one of my castles. I gulped.

He paused, looking at me, raising an eyebrow, I took his Bishop and nodded my head softly, "Yes sir, more than one actually."

He looked at the board, smirked a little, then back at me, "Great, well be taking a trip to liyua tomorrow, I need to make a shipment to the restaurants there and its always best to have someone with me to guard the wine if needed."

I just nodded quickly and went to make a move on the board, only to find out I had already been cornered and lost the game, "how –?"

Diluc chuckled and stood up, "Ill need you to be up and ready by 6, its a long journey, well need to spend the night, best you get a good nights sleep."

He left my sight once again and I sat staring at my defeat. This man never fails to surprise me.
