Diluc's body lay limp and fragile under the thin hospital blanket that had been neatly tucked around his slim figure. Segments of moon light broke apart through the window and rested on the man's chest, lighting the room up ever so slightly so it was easy to see the redness in his cheeks as he slept.

Instead of his complicated layers of clothes, now all that clung to him was bandages and a small hospital gown, his hair dripping over his shoulders which were propped up against some pillows.

Hidden from the light lay y/n, her eyes fluttered shut, her head supported by Dilucs thighs, and her hands intertwined with his.

It had been two days since the incident, and Diluc hasn't stirred even the slightest, not a sound escaped his mouth and not even the movement of a fingertip, he was completely and utterly motionless.

Y/n hadn't left his side since she got here, much to Rosaria's dismay, she insisted that y/n should go home and rest, but she didn't have a home, not really, her home right now was Diluc, and he was lying here half dead, if it wasn't for his chest rising and falling every few seconds, he would have looked it.

It must have been around 3am when
Y/n finally fell asleep for the first time. Her mouth parted slightly and her breath heavy. The only other noise was the sound of the wind breaking through the cracked open window, like the anemo archon watching over them in their sleep.

*********

When y/n awoke she felt the slight pressure of a hand running its way through her hair, while another hand brushed lightly across her cheek, sending a hot sensation across her face, as Diluc's touch always would.

Diluc? Was he awake?

She opened her eyes to see the pale moonlight had been replaced by the heat of the sun, and her pillow, Diluc, was now sitting up right against the wall, still battered and bandaged, but alive, and smiling softly down at her.

"You mumble in your sleep you know."  He said, continuing to play with y/n's hair buy moving his attention towards the window.

"So do you." She responded, while stretching her body, feeling the strong urge to hug the man but knew how much that would probably hurt his chest. That being said, it was impossible to hide the smile that formed from hearing his voice again.

"Well at least we have that in common."  He winked. And leaned down to kiss her on her head but immediately regretted it as visible pain shot through his entire body. Y/n rushed up to help him back into a comfortable position.

"I was so worried." Y/n hung her head, trying not to show the tears in her eyes. "I thought I'd never see you again."

His smile returned to his usual face of concern. Looking y/n up and down, searching for what he should say next. But decided not to say anything, and just treasure the moment. He was alive, and he had somebody as beautiful as     y/n by his side, even though he wasn't sure exactly what they were to eachother yet, knowing that fact was very comforting to him.

"Are the people in the tavern okay?" He questioned. Remembering his promise, y/n nodded and grabbed ahold of his hand.

"They're safe, kaeya helped them all to the cathedral." Relief flooded Diluc, he would never forgive himself if something had happened to his staff or customers while he had been knocked out cold by an abyss mage.

The two just lay there together for awhile, enjoying the peace, aswell as the relief that Diluc was well, and able to recover. After a while Rosaria came in to assess the situation and declared that it was safe for Diluc to return to the Winery as long as he stayed in bed and had someone change his bandages every two days.

Y/n with the help of Charles, escorted Diluc out of the infirmary and the three of them boarded a cart back to the Dawn Winery.

But alas, even peace like this, would always be shattered in Mondstadt. When the carage turned a corner before the winery, it was stopped dead in its tracks by a group of treasure hoarders, who must have believed someone expensive was on board.

"Ahh, another test subject." One of them said. Y/n pushed Diluc back who was struggling to get out of his seat to fight, and aggressively informed him to stay put while she dealt with the situation. Which he reluctantly agreed, but the pain he was in was erasing any fighting abilitys he had.

Y/n stepped out of the cart, clutching her bow. Her vision which she wore as a chain around her neck, was glowing purple, energy sparking around her the closer she drew to the three men.

"Hello boys, how can I help you?" She smiled, keeping her bow lowered for now. They all looked pleasantly surprised to see their only opposition was a small girl who looked like she hadn't slept in days.

"Fry." One yelled, and threw a molotov at her, which she swiftly dodged and raised her bow, shooting one of the men who had tried to sneak up on her from behind.

It wasn't long before she heard Diluc Tring to make his was out of the cart, and turned to see him clutching on to his claymore which seemed to be far to heavy for the usually strong man at this time.

But there was only two guys left, and she couldn't let Diluc get injured again.

With everything she had she held her vision to her chest, and before she knew it, she was rising into the air. The sky turning a deep purple and lightning thundering down upon the two men below her, burying them deep into the earth.

She fell to the ground with a thud, and turned to see Diluc staring at her in awe.

"That was incredible!" Charles exclaimed, stepping out of the cart, Diluc on the other hand, was stumbling towards her.

"Easy there big guy." She laughed as he fell into her arms for support, hugging her close. Y/n couldn't imagine the pain this hug was bringing him, with a wound that deep.

"Have I ever told you you're beautiful." He said, planting a kiss on her cheek, still gripping on to her for support.

"You've had far to many pain killers Master Diluc," She laughed, ",let's get you in bed."
