You both had ran into a dead end, a wall blocking you from further escape.
Ethan let go of your hand, quickly reloading his gun as he ushered you behind him. "Stay back."
You nodded and went behind him, holding the back of your head and grunting in pain. When you dropped your hand down, your palm was fully covered in blood. This wasn't good.
What was his plan? Why was he reloading his gun? Had he heard something you didn't?
Then out of nowhere two Lycans charged through the wall that had just blocked your path. Their irregular movements made your heartbeat pick up.
With swift calculation he went on to unload a handful of bullets into one of the beasts. The gunshots made your ears ring. You covered your ears as the sound rang through your brain. A few shots later you felt a hand grabbing your arm again, hastily and roughly pulling you along. The storm had picked up, hail coming down along with water and snow. The hail felt harsh against your skin, the ice practically serving as bullets from the heavens.
You both kept running and running, there seemed to come no end to the sprinting.
How was he not tired?
The screams of lycans not following far behind haunted your steps. The rain having completely drenched your hair, clothes and body in the time that you had been running.
"Ethan... How much do we have le-"
"Just keep running, it doesn't matter!"
He gripped your wrist harder and quickened his pace, pulling you along further.
You didn't have time to catch your breath from the fight from the lycan back at the house yet. This was the first time you had ever ran so much. The cold ice had started to bite at your burning legs, you couldn't keep up much longer. And you noticed that after all this time he had started to lose energy himself.
"Okay, okay... Jesus, wait." He groaned heavily as he started to slow his pace, taking a deep breath before picking up the pace again.
The colossal monster with its hammer busted through an entire house, sliding into the main path and charging towards you.
"Shit, shit shit!" Ethan swore. He backtracked through the snow, grabbing his handgun and reloading to shoot at the thing to no avail. "Fucker eats these like they're damn coins. It's no use!"
The both of you stood in the middle of the path, about to be obliterated by its hammer. Ethan frantically looked around, finally spotting an opened door amongst the buildings in a narrow street.
Before the hammer swung down, you were clumsily pulled along with him. You stumbled, trying to make a walking mess out of your feet, but somehow made the final sprint towards the shed.
Ethan burst through the door with a loud bang yelling at you to get in before slamming it shut behind him.
You made it.
He breathed heavily and sighed.
It was a tiny makeshift shed, tool boxes and crates filling the small room. It was dark and the room was filled with dust. The dust particles were illuminated by a soft ray of light pouring in from the tiny window.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes-"
"Good."
He pushed a crate against the door and pushed you against the wall furthest from the door.
