As soon as I left the room, I heard her talk to Alex. "Ethan asked me out."

I put my ear close to the door, trying to hear the rest of the conversation. I knew I shouldn't have listened, but I really couldn't help it. I knew something was going on between Dahlia and Ethan and I wanted to figure it out.

"He what?! Did you say yes?"

I backed away from the door. I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. It wasn't my business. Besides, I didn't want to hear if she had said yes.

I hated how it bothered me so much. I hated how fucking jealous I got.

I hated the way I felt about her.

"Hey man, are you okay?", Reggie asked.

"No I'm not.", I said, pacing back and forth.

"You know you can talk to me."

"Not really in the mood.", I said. "And what are you, my boyfriend?"

"No, but I could be if you wanted me to", he joked. At least I think he was joking...

I grabbed a pillow on the ground and threw it at him.

Suddenly, Alex poofed in.

"So, how did your talk with Dahlia go?", I asked.

"Uh...fine", he replied, looking confused. "Why are you so invested in this whole thing?"

"I don't know. I have nothing better to do.", I said, sitting on the couch. "So what happened?"

"Nothing. Ethan and her are just friends, remember? And, ugh, you're so obvious! I hope you don't act that desperate in front of Dahlia."

I scoffed. "Fuck both of you."

"Hey, why me?", Reggie asked.

"I don't know, you probably did something."

"Fair point."

"But Luke, what's your deal anyway?", Alex asked. "I haven't seen you this stressed since you tried to ask Sumer Martin to prom in 10th grade."

"I, I just need to take a walk okay?", I said before poofing out.

I really need to get a hold of myself.

After thinking way too far into the idea of friend-zoning Ethan again, I decided to go for a walk. They always helped me clear my head.

I didn't really know where I was going. I was walking past a park when I heard a familiar guitar riff. I turned my head to see Luke sitting underneath a tree playing his guitar. I decided to walk over.

He turned his head, once he heard me.

"What are you doing here?", he asked, calmly.

"I could ask you the same thing.", I replied, sitting down next to him.

"I don't know.", he said. "I just got a little stressed that's all."

I nodded. We sat in silence for a minute before I spoke up. "Hey, are you still mad at me?"

He looked at me, confused. "I was never mad at you", he laughed. "It just sort of sucks that you're our only friend other than each other."

I gasped jokingly.

"Don't get me wrong, I love you, but it can get kind of boring sometimes.", he said, looking back down at his guitar.

I love you.

His words played over and over again in my head. I knew he didn't mean it like that, but it still gave me butterflies.

"This is probably stupid, but I feel like you're trying to hide Ethan from me. I don't want you to feel like you have to lie."

I really didn't want to lie to Luke. "Okay fine. Ethan asked me out"

Luke paused before nodding. "Good for you.", he said.

"Oh, no. I uh, I didn't say yes. I don't feel that way about him."

He looked a little surprised. "Okay, well then why are you telling me?"

I exhaled a breath I didn't know I was holding in. "For some reason I thought you were going to get pissed again if I told you."

"We're friends right? Friends shouldn't hold each other back. Even if you did decide to go on that date, I would be happy for you."

"Did Alex tell you to say that or something?", I joked.

He laughed. "I just don't want anything to come in between us again."

I smiled. "Yeah me neither."

We sat in silence for a minute before I spoke up. "So, what are you doing?", I asked, pointing to his guitar.

He picked up the piece of paper next to him. "Oh, uh, it's something I wrote a while ago and I'm just revisiting it."

He handed it to me and I read over the lyrics.

"Wow this is really good."

"Thanks."

"Did you write this for any reason in particular or..."

"Oh, uh, not really. I just wanted to try something a little different."

"I never pictured you as a guy who writes love songs."

"Well, it was just something I tried out."

"You should write more. That style really suits you. It would be really cool to see you play it."

"I don't know. I think it would be better if you did."

"Oh, I couldn't do that.", I said. "I've never even been in love before. I don't think I would be very good."

"Really?", he said. "You've had what, like 6 relationships in the past two years and you're telling me you've never been in love?"

I laughed. "Well, I guess I loved this one guy. But I really wish I didn't."

The next day I walked into the music class for homeroom and my jaw dropped. At the front of the classroom stood an all too familiar face. Why was he here?

I desperately did not want him to see me, but it was too late.

"Dahlia?"

A/N: Heyy. So this happened. But girl she aint even 1000 words. This one was pretty short. I will probably update chapter 19 today too. Thanks for reading and I'll see you in the next chapter! <3<3<3
