When I got back from the kitchen, the boys were gone. I figured that they had gone on a walk like Alex said. I crawled into bed and turned off the lights. I tried closing my eyes, but I couldn't sleep. I was pretty anxious about school the next day. I went to school with these kids in elementary school, but that was 8 years ago.
Would they even remember me? Or would they treat me like an outcast like they had back then? It's Ok Lia, I told myself. They're probably different people now. You're a different person now. Just be yourself.
I woke up the next morning to the smell of bacon and eggs. The boys still weren't here. I shrugged it off and made my way to the kitchen. "Hola Mija!", Tia Victoria said. "I was just about to wake you up." She turned back to the stove. "I guess I'm just used to waking up at this time.", I replied. "I'm going to go change and then I'll come get some food"
(Take your pick cuz idk what your aesthetic is)
I walked downstairs, grabbed a plate, to and sat at the island. "How was last night, did you sleep okay?", she asked. "Oh, yeah! It was pretty comfortable.", I responded. "Well hopefully your new bed comes today.", she said as she put food on my plate. "Thanks, Tia." She went back to the stove.
"So Mija, what classes did you register for?", she asked. "I was surprised when you said you wanted to do it all on your own." I grabbed my plate and put it in the dishwasher. "Well, Tia I'm not a little girl anymore", I said while grabbing my backpack. "I'm just taking all on grade level courses plus dance. Oh and I'm also going to see if I can get into the music program."
Tia Victoria smiled at me. "I'm so proud of you Lia.", she said. "I'm so happy that you're playing music again!"
"Oh, well I haven't actually played yet, but I will when the time comes." Tia came over and gave me a kiss on the forehead. "There's my brave girl", she said. "Oh my goodness! Look at the time. You're going to be late for school!" She opened the door for me. "Have a good first day!", she said enthusiastically. "I will Tia.", I replied while walking out the door. "Bye!"

To be honest, I don't know what I expected when I walked through the door. People staring at me like in a cheesy movie? Turns out I was worried for nothing. No one even looked at me. I looked down at my schedule to find my locker number. Holy crap, I don't know where that is, I thought. Now I have to talk to someone...
I looked for the nearest person and went up to them. "Uh hi, I'm Dahlia!", I started. "I'm new here and I don't know where my locker is. Can you help me?" I said holding out my schedule. "Yeah sure", said the blonde-haired boy.
He took my schedule and told me to follow him. And for some reason now everybody was staring at me? Well, I should say staring at us. He did have a varsity jacket on. He must have been on the lacrosse team. I guess the jocks really are popular at some schools...
I thanked him after we got to my locker. I was just about to open it when a strawberry blonde haired girl walked up to us. "Hi you must be new here", she said. Oh god. My one talent other than music was my ability to tell if someone was a bitch with just one look. "My name is Carrie Wilson", the girl said. "I see you've met my boyfriend Nick!"
"Uh, yeah. Nice to meet you. Nick was just showing me to my locker.", I replied trying to sound as calm as possible. "Well sorry...", she started. "Dahlia", I said. "Dahlia, but Nick and I need to get going.", she finished. Nick waved at me before he and Carrie walked away. I scoffed and put in the combination for my locker. Then I opened it and put my belongings inside. I closed it and heard a voice say, "Hey"
"Ahh!", I yelped. Peopled looked at me and I just smiled. "Normal people don't do that and ghosts definitely shouldn't. What are you doing here Luke?"
"I'm bored.", he said. I took out my phone and put it next to my ear. "You're just taking a phone call right now? Do you know how rude that is?", Luke started. "Hey, thanks for calling! Otherwise, people might think I'm talking to myself."
"Rigghht. Nice!", Luke said. "How did you know where I went to school anyway?", I said. "Like I said, I was bored. So I followed you here. Besides, I assumed you went here since it's the closest school to your house.
"That's pretty creepy Luke."
"Sorry."
"Well, thanks for coming by but I gotta get to class.", I said. I did not want to talk to this stalker ghost boy right now.
"You know what, why don't you ditch school today let's go somewhere. We can get to know each other.", Luke said. "No! It's my first day of school what are my teachers going to think of me?", I replied.
"Why does it matter?", he countered. "Goodbye Luke,", I said.
"But Dahlia!", he said. He sounded like a whiny little kid.
"Okay listen Lukeypookey. If you stop complaining we'll go get ice cream or something when I get back.", I said. "Hello? I'm a ghost. I can't eat.", he responded.
"Okay, well six hours of me being at school should be enough time for you to think about what you want to do.", I said. "Now I have to go audition for the music program." I walked past him.
"Fine! But Lukeypookey? That's the best you could come up with?", Luke shouted at me from down the hall. I just smiled and continued walking.

FanfictionEver since her mom died, Dahlia hasn't been able to play any music, let alone look at it. Who knew that it would take three dead dudes from a 90s rock band to bring her out of her shell. (I do not own the JATP characters)
