A/N: Okay, well since there was only one question, I'm going to go ahead and answer it here.
From AhyokaADyolf (I hope I spelled that right!) You asked if Silver is a descendant of one of the royal siblings since he has many psycho-kinetic abilities.
And my answer is YES! He is the descendant of Sonic in this book, though I always imagined that he was Shadow's son, I decided to take a different approach on this one, but there is always room to adjust if necessary. Nothing is set in stone yet.
On that note, I can go ahead and make a poll right here: Who is Silver's ancestor? Sonic or Shadow? Let me know who you think it should be.
And to answer other question, I know what you're thinking. Shadow's a telepath. Manic is an empath, and Sonia is an oracle. But what about Sonic? Where's his royal power?
My answer is yes he does have a royal power that will be seen later on. I'm not gonna spoil it though, but feel free to guess!
And now, on with the show!
Sonic clutched Amy tightly as he ran through the Great Forest, his feet pounding the dirt and debris evenly as he maneuvered through the twisting trees. The pink hedgehog held her grip and clamped her eyes shut, trying her best to steady both her emotions and her breathing. She didn't open them again until Sonic nudged her and set her down.
"You can let go now," he chuckled softly. The sakura hedgehog laughed sheepishly and released her favorite blue hero.
"Sorry," she spoke sadly, "about everything."
"No worries, Ames," he cheesed, casually folding his hands behind his head and soaking in a deep breath. After a quick beat of silence, he led her to a fallen log and sat down.
"Now, talk to me, Ames. What's going on between you and Sally?"
Amy's eyes tinged red from incoming tears, "How do you not know?"
"Well," he drawled awkwardly, "I have an idea about what's going on, but I wanna hear it from you."
"I was scared," she whispered so low, Sonic had to strain in order to hear her. He blinked in surprise.
"Scared? Of what? Sal ain't gonna bite ya."
Amy shook her head and clamped her eyes shut, shoulders quivering from trying to hold all of her emotions in, "I was scared that-that you'd pick her over me. I know it's really stupid and childish, but..."
Sonic's gaze softened as the sakura hedgehog broke down into tears. He hated watching a lady cry, always had, always will. So without a word, he pulled the sobbing girl into a hug.
"Hey, now, where'd you hear that?" he asked gently. Amy didn't answer. Sonic tentatively tilted her chin up so their eyes met, "Hey, look. I know me and her had a thing in the past, but to be honest, I knew things weren't going to work out between us," he began.
Wow, I've never said anything like that out loud, he thought. He despised talking out his emotions. It made him feel weak and vulnerable, but right now, he knew he needed to show something to her. For once, he had to stop running away.
Amy sniffed in confusion, "What? But...you..I thought—"
"I'm gonna shoot straight with you, I liked her for a long time," he admitted, "and things got pretty serious. But after a while we stopped connecting. Fights between us became more common, and I was being pulled back or left behind. I knew I had to end it the last night though."
"What happened?"
"Intelligence said that Robotnik was moving on to new territory. I wanted to go. Sally wanted me to stay. Things got heated. I knew that if I had to go, I'd have to go on my own. There was no way Sal would let me go if I asked, since she was the actual leader of the Knothole Resistance. And at the time, I didn't think I'd ever be coming back, so chose to end it and free her from any sort of obligations she thought she had towards me. It was going to happen sooner or later anyway," he shrugged, his charismatic smile replaced with a thoughtful, and dare she say, solemn frown.
"Well, that explains the letter," she sniffed, "but why did you take Tails if you were going to leave alone?"
This time a full smile broke out on his tan muzzle, "I couldn't have stopped him if I tried," he laughed, "The night I was heading out, he saw me and followed me. I wasn't exactly going full speed," he added, "He'd figured out that I was leaving and was determined to go with, saying that if I left him behind, he'd just follow me anyway and give my a head good bashing when he finally catches up. So I let him tag along, and it was probably one of the best decisions I ever made."
Sonic chuckled at the memory of the tiny kit huffing and puffing with one of Rotor's wrenches in his hands. It was obviously heavy to the kid, making him more adorable than threatening, and he just didn't have the heart to say no.
Amy smiled softly at her hero, and she knew that deep down, he'd taken more of risk than it took to battle one of Eggman's giant killer robots. Sonic expressing emotions other than cheerfulness, courage, or cockiness was extremely rare, and she felt honored that he trusted her with his thoughts.
The two normally vibrant hedgehogs sat in silence for a few moments, neither sure where they wanted to lead the conversation. Amy fiddled with the hem of her dress, thinking of all of the times she wanted to be alone with Sonic and how she didn't have anything to say. Sonic, on the other hand, was waging a civil war in his brain, trying to figure out what his next move should be. In the end, he just decided to do what he did best, roll with it.
"Look, I know I'm not the best with...feelings and all that mushy stuff, but I just wanted to tell that I think...that, well," he stuttered, "I really like you, Amy. And I know that I've been a total jerk running away from you all the time, but the truth is, you scared me too..just not in the traditional way," he ended with an awkward cough into his fist, cheeks and ears turning an interesting shade of red.
Amy's eyes widened at his bashful admission, and she could barely contain her excitement. She was actually surprised that she kept her voice neutral when she spoke, "Sonic? Are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"I have no idea what I'm saying," he replied with a nervous laugh, "You're a great gal, Ames, and well, maybe I could slow down a little bit for you."
The last chain of her restraint broke, and Amy tackled Sonic into own of her trademark back-breaking hugs. Her happiness soared when he didn't back away like he usually did. In fact, he actually returned it.
"But hey, just for the time being though, let's take it slow, okay? And we both need to make it up to Sally."
"Duh," she grinned, "I can't believe how we acted! That was so crazy!" she giggled, the waves of happiness and relief not leaving room for much else of a reaction.
Things obviously wouldn't be the same, but maybe they could mended.
A/N: There you have it! Next chapter we get to see what happens with some of the other unsuspecting characters. Stay tuned, and please review!
