The following day she entered the front door with a smile on her face, happy to work alongside Cal. It might have been foolish but she was really happy to have him around; cases were always really difficult to solve alone and working with someone you knew and you could trust made them easier sometimes. Not just the case itself due to the connection you had with your partner, but also those long hours of digging into tons of documents to find something could be lightened up by random jokes shared every now ad then.

As they imagined the case took too long also for the fact that they had to go investigate into a field full of mud and she was so glad she decided to wear her old shoes instead of her new ones that day, otherwise they would have gotten ruined. They decided to eat something on their desk that evening while they waited for some reports to load into the server; they were alone in the room and a few people were still in the building so they could talk freely about whatever they wanted.

"Would you mind if I go back to my apartment for a few minutes before coming to your place? I really need to change my muddy clothes and take a shower" she chuckled, she would have felt so uncomfortable in maybe sitting on his couch with dirt on her jeans.

"Not a problem, I'm gonna text you my address so you can come when you're ready" he pointed out, taking his phone out of his pocket and sending her a message.

"Thanks, should I bring something? I can stop at the 24h supermarket on my way there if you want" she suggested.

"I have some beers at home and definitely some vodka and tequila, if you want something else I can go buy it, you're my guest, you just need to come to my place and I will take care of everything else" he answered back.

"I guess what you have is good, let's just hope I won't get drunk like the first time we went out together" she chuckled.

"So you're finally admitting it!" he laughed.

"Ok maybe I wasn't that drunk, let's say I was a bit tipsy" she laughed too, she couldn't deny that night she had slightly exaggerated.

Their laughs were interrupted by Crown who entered the room, looking at them.

"What are you two still doing here? I thought your shift ended almost two hours ago" Crown asked confused.

"We had found some more informations and we needed to wait for the FBI server to load all the documents we made and the evidences into our cloud, so we decided to have dinner, we will be out of here in... 5 minutes" Cal said, looking at his computer screen, seeing how much time was left.

"Oh, I get it. I guess I can give you two some hours off tomorrow then. If you want you can come to work after lunch" Derek suggested.

"Really? Well thank you, we will definitely take the offer" Emily said happily, which gave them the opportunity to either spend some more time together that night or meet in the morning or for lunch.

"You're welcome, you two are doing a good job" he complimented on them before leaving the room.

Once their documents finished loading they parted ways, both of them going back to their apartments to take a shower before meeting again. She had thought about it for a while and she came to the conclusion that she really didn't want to go to his apartment without bringing anything, so she decided to stop at her favorite ice-cream shop to buys some. During the time they spent together they had bought ice-cream more than once so she could say for sure what his favorite flavors were. She loved Oreo cookies and he loved the fruity ice creams, peach looked perfect, he had bought it once, she knew for sure he liked it.

She knocked happily but still nervously on his door, it was their first time being alone since they came back and she couldn't help but think of what could happen. Deep inside she knew what would have happened, what she wanted to make happen and she was pretty sure he wanted it too. She needed to stop overthinking it and just let herself go, it was always the same Cal, not different from the one she spent time with the previous week.
