It was in those moments Emily wished she could have been twenty again. She wasn't drunk the previous night so she couldn't really call it an hangover, but her head was heavy and she was still feeling a bit dizzy.
"I think I need to breathe some fresh air and take a walk, maybe eat something and chill" she got dressed and headed outside for her morning run... actually her 10am walk. It wasn't early morning and she didn't really wanted to run, a walk was totally fine. She spotted the bakery she went to the first day so she decided to buy her breakfast there.
She suddenly remembered what Cal had told her the previous day. He would have gone for a trip in an hour and he had asked her to go with him. She didn't really feel like she wanted to, she was a bit tired and definitely wanted to chill maybe even the entire day in her apartment; watching some movies and eating ice cream. She hoped the offer would have been on for another day though, she would have liked to go on a trip with him after all.
Walking back to her apartment she spotted the place Cal usually went to before leaving for his daily ride, looking at the bar she couldn't really see him, but his bike was there. She decided to get closer and search for him, she didn't want him to wait for her and waste his time.
"You looking for me?" he asked suddenly, making her turn around.
"I- actually yes. I wanted to thank you for yesterday, it was fun. But I need to turn down your offer for today. I'm kinda tired and I don't think I'll be in the mood to have a trip today, I'm sorry" she apologized, why was she even sad about turning down his offer?
"It's ok don't worry, rain check?" he asked.
"Yeah, maybe next time, we'll see" she gave him a smile, it would have definitely been a rain check.
"I'm gonna leave every day at 11am, if you want to come with me just meet me here at that hour" he explained.
Once again he could have just asked for her phone number, things would have been way easier, but he didn't want to be pushy and this time, she noticed it.
"Oh, ok. So you're gonna be there every day? For how long?" she asked.
"Three weeks, then I have to go back to my job" he explained.
"Same" she smiled.
She really wanted to ask him why he wasn't there a few days before, if he had left earlier or later, but asking would have meant admitting that she had looked for him that day and his ego was already big enough.
"See you tomorrow then?" he asked, straddling his bike.
"Who said I'm gonna come with you tomorrow?" she asked crossing her arms to her chest and raising an eyebrow at him.
"No one, I'll be there and maybe you'll stay at the beach and not come with me, but we will still meet" he explained.
"Right, yeah sure, I'll be there I think" she answered.
"Great, come and say hi if you spot me, and remember that the offer is always on" he gave smile before putting his helmet on.
"Yeah, see you around" she mirrored his smile.
"See ya" he echoed before turning on the engine and leaving.
She immediately regretted it, how could she? It had been her choice not to go with him, she felt tired and not really in the mood but suddenly she was feeling great after talking to him. She wanted to go to that beach with him, she couldn't deny it. The previous evening was great and despite the alcohol, she felt really good talking with him. It was exactly what she needed, to connect back with humanity, which also meant getting to know a total stranger and hang out with him, it wouldn't have been the first time. She will agree to the next trip for sure, she couldn't regret once again the fact that she turned down his offer. She was also really curious about his plans, would they be as amazing as he described them? Actually he had just slightly told her what the place looked like, but her mind was imagining it as the most beautiful place on Earth.
