Sabine
Sabine Dupain-Cheng considered herself to be a logical woman, thank you very much. Most of the time she thought with her head and not her heart. And yet, as she drove away from the airport, she wondered if perhaps thinking with her heart would have been the better option this time.
The evidence had all been there, unexcused absences, strange disappearances, the voices that Sabine knew didn't belong to her daughter that floated down from her room, her obsession with that model boy, and now her daughter's best friend claiming that she was a bully, and had been for the past year? It was just too much to ignore. So, she had called up an old flame of hers, informed him of the issue, and sent Marinette away. Problem solved, right? But Sabine's heart felt heavy. Something was wrong with the facts she had been presented, and she was determined to find out what.
Tom
Tom wasn't quite sure what to think. Despite not being Marinette's real father, that had a father-daughter relationship that most people would kill for. He understood her in ways no one else did. He had taught he the secrets to a perfect Le Sacher Torte, had taught her how to drive, had sat through and listen to her cry about her first crush, her first heartbreak, had supported her designing dream, opening the bakery for longer hours just to help buy her materials. He thought that he knew his daughter. So, when her little reporter friend had come with blatant evidence that Marinette was hurting someone, he was shocked, to say the least. And as he looked into the issues, saw the unexcused absences, the bullying reports, the random disappearances, he got angry. And more than that, he was hurt. Hurt that his daughter had been lying to him all this time. And maybe that was why he had suggested that Sabine send her to live with her biological father. Maybe that was why he had gotten so angry. He had yelled at Marinette. Yelled at her. He, in all his 17 years of raising her, had never, not once, raised his voice. Maybe that was why he felt so guilty.
Currently, he stood at the counter, wiping the same spot over and over as he thought about his daughter, a sinking feeling in his stomach as he realized that despite all his daughter was hiding, she would never have hurt someone like that. He thought of how she bent over backward to help her friends, giving them free food, free clothes, giving up free time to help them babysit, clean, or do homework. There was no way that someone that self-sacrificing could have hurt another person.
Tom felt hot tears on his cheeks as he realized what he had done. Not only had he broken his daughter's trust by not believing her, but he had also hurt her. He had hurt his daughter. He cried as he realized that had broken his relationship irreparably. Cried as he realized that she would probably never again look at him with the utmost love and trust in her eyes. Cried as he realized that he may not be her father ever again.
Lila
Lila was proud of herself. Marinette was gone, hated, and as for herself? Well, everyone worshiped the ground she walked on. In all honesty, she was shocked with how quickly she got people to turn on the baker's daughter. All it took were a few well-placed notes, rude text messages that didn't even come from Marinette's phone, and, for the grand finale, combining pinching her easily bruised skin and red food coloring to make appear as if Marinette had attacked, And it had worked! Not one single person questioned why her blood looked a little watery and bright. No one questioned why the number the texts came from wasn't Marinette's, and no one even tried to compare Marinette's handwriting to handwriting on the notes. It was almost too easy. But that's beside the point. She was free now! No one could expose her and her lies. She was safe.
Of course, that wasn't enough for her. The Agreste boy still knew that she was lying, and it was possible he could grow a spine and out of her. Not likely, but still possible. She needed to get rid of him. It was time for Phase 2.
A/N just thought this would help give some insight to the story! thanks for reading!!
