"Happy Birthday to Me. Happy Birthday to me. Happy Birthday myself. Happy Birthday to me." Marinette sighed as she looked at the cupcake in front of her. She had broken her phone, and Bruce wouldn't let her get a new one, and a camera had appeared in her room last night that she couldn't figure out how to take down, so she couldn't celebrate with her friends. And no one here knew when her birthday was, so she was stuck celebrating it by herself. She felt tears brimming in her eyes, tears of genuine sadness and pain. She was lonely. And she was hurting. And there was no one around to make her feel whole.

She poked the cupcake before throwing it in the trash and going downstairs to distract herself before she lost it.

"Hey Jason, would you mind taking me to-" MArinette burst into tears. Jason was pinning up a banner he had, with his terrible art skills, painted that said 'Happy Birthday Mari' with her face horribly painted next to it. Tim was struggling to tape streamers to the living room entrance, Alfred was placing perfectly made pink cupcakes next to a blue cake, and Stephanie and Cass were stacking presents up.

"Marinette!" Jason scrambled up off the the floor he had fallen onto. "Why are you crying? Do you not like it? We can change the colors! Or we can not do it! If that make you feel better." Marinette let out a sob and launched herself at Jason, causing him to stagger into the wall as he held her. No one had ever done this for her. It was always her planning parties and making gifts for others. Sure, people wished her happy birthday, and a few even used to give her gifts, but no one went out of their way to do anything special for her. No one ever took time out of their day to do anything for her birthday. And here were people who barely knew her taking time out of their day and dirtying up their house for her.

"Thank you Jason." Marinette sniffed and looked up at him. Jason opened his mouth to respond, but was interrupted by the door opening.

"Sorry I'm late guys, Beast Boy was being a total- oh hey Marinette!" Rachel smiled at Marinette and handed her a big purple gift bag. "Happy birthday!"

"Thanks Rachel." Marinette wiped her eye's and took the bag from Rachel, wanting to cry again because she had shown up.

"You can set it over here Mari." Stephanie waved her over and gave her hug as best she could.

"Happy Birthday, by the way." Marinette blushed.

"Thank you."

"Alright. Now that it's no longer a surprise, Do I have to keep painting this? Cause I really suck at it." Jason frowned at his paint-covered clothing and skin, and stuck his tongue out at the horrible banner.

Marinette giggled and took the poster from Jason, gently laying it out to dry.

"It's good enough Jason."

"Oh thank goodness. I'm going to go shower and then we can start the festivities."

"No we are starting now!" MArinette grabbed Jason painted hand and pulled him to the cake.

"Fine. But if I have to be messy, so do you." And with that he shoved a cupcake in her face.

                                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marinette smiled as she cleaned icing out of her eyebrows. This had been the best day ever. Until a black thing hit her in the face.
"Plagg?"
